It sucks for the Super Bowl quality of play. You don't want a championship determined by the vagaries of weather that may favor one team built to take advantage of extreme home conditions (winter weather in the south is about the most neutral weather available). Mainly it is the watchability point. To the many outsiders who watch the game a game in awful weather would be boring and sloppy. One of the most famous games in NFL playoff history was played in blizzard conditions. I'm well aware. And it also was phenomenally ugly (and I'm not just saying that because the Cowboys lost). I like watching cold weather games but when the weather is basically playing defense the whole game (or worse when its just snow and no one can play defense because defense is much harder to play in snow when you don't know where to cut) then the game is worse. Just because there are exciting games in bad weather doesn't mean it's ideal for a neutral site game. |

Both he an Asante are tackling averse and given the linebacker situation I don't see how the Eagles fixed their run D. That still leaves Miles Austin or Dez Bryant on a gambling corner susceptible to the double move (and in DRC's case and engraved invitation to throw a receiver screen). I'm definitely not happy about it but it certainly doesn't make the Eagle defense unstoppable with their holes at safety and LB. |

I get that the Super Bowl is supposed like a national holiday that everyone can watch, but as someone who cares 52 weeks out of the year I don't want the NFL to cater to people who only watch one game. And its not like dome or warm weather teams can't win in cold conditions, I thought that myth was debunked a while ago. We've had a lot of really good conference championship games played in bad weather, if the two teams are good it shouldn't be any different. Or we could have you know an absolute shit game because its played in a blizzard with gusting winds (or that debacle between the Steelers and Dolphins on the shit turf a few years ago). The Super Bowl is supposed to be a true neutral site game. That means picking neutral weather. What about the Steelers-Seahawks Superbowl? Or the Colts/Bears? Both those were pretty awful games, and besides that we've been blessed recently with pretty great SBs, but again if the teams are good enough (which they probably will be) it should still be a good game. I don't want to sound like an old timer but I guess my argument is basically just man the fuck up and play in awful conditions. Maybe it's cause I'm an NFC North fan but I think that's part of the spirit of football. |

Just because there are exciting games in bad weather doesn't mean it's ideal for a neutral site game. I don't really have an opinion either way. The quality of play thing is legit, but to be honest I think always having it in nice weather unfairly punishes the teams that play well in the cold on their way to the Super Bowl. corrections wrote: lonewolf371 wrote: chicken sandwich wrote: If the Jets get Asomugha i'll shit bricks, how the hell are you supposed to complete a pass against that team? I'd be much more afraid of Revis+superstar blitzer like James Harrison than Revis+Nnamdi. |

Might be but I can't remember. I lived through the Dallas one which is why I bring it up. They had made some truly awful decisions to begin with about where to orient events (not really realizing how far apart Fort Worth, Arlington, and Dallas really are and throwing snow on the roads greatly exacerbated it. |

I suspect they'll be better at dealing with snow in New Jersey than in Texas. |

Over the years I've acquired an impression that people in the South will crap their pants and freak out even at the most trivial numbers of snowflakes sticking to the ground. |

I'm not, I always hated him and the fact that he's gone is good for the NFL. |
