Two steps, elbow, then stretch I don't understand this rule. He hits the ground and loses control, where does making a football move come into the discussion? Unless you're saying he had control through the move, then lost it, in which case the 'control through the catch' was maintained by virtue of the move...but he's also going to the ground at the time, so I'm not sure the steps matter. |

Tip hit the ground and it moved and he lost control for a bit as he roll over. |

after reading the interwebs, my conclusions was that it's the right call, but a somewhat stupid rule for one, for running backs, losing control upon contact with the ground results in a fumble whereas with wr it's results in it being incomplete. Being unable to make a move while 'falling to the ground' is also a little wiffy-waffy. But it's also hard to sea how to define a rule in this context which can be consistently and clearly interpreted. it's too bad, because had dez simply wrapped the ball up and gone to the ground (which he could have easily done) rather than trying to get the TD, the cowboys could have easily had a 1st in goal at the 2 or so. |

Eric J wrote: Tip hit the ground and it moved and he lost control for a bit as he roll over. i didn't think the ball hitting the ground should matter since he was down and had control of the ball, took multiple steps, and made a football move (diving and extending the ball) all before his arm and the ball swung into the ground. it's not like the ball was bobbling and then popped out. he clearly had control and went down before swinging his arm into the ground. what happened after that, like when he rolled over, doesn't matter, because he was down with control. and the ground can't cause a fumble. if he wasn't down, but had control, took steps, and made a football move, and then he swung his arm into the ground and the ground knocked the ball loose, then i thought that would be a fumble and fumble recovery. but he went down with control. so idk. i don't really get it. |

The rule itself is the problem. It's a phenomenally stupid rule built (like many rules) to address a very small set of scenarios but fucking up a whole bunch of other things in the process. I'm incredibly pissed that Cobb's "catch" stood after review in the first half. That was nonsense |

I'm just glad we play GB now, though. |
