It isn't an elbow and I think the reason the elbow would hurt more is because your being hit with the elbow pad. That arm area isn't covered up by anything.

Hitting with the upper arm like that is defined as an elbow by rule. Any motion where the arm comes up and the body swings (even if it is just because you are turning) is an elbow. I think they got it right with the 5 minute major and were also right not to suspend him.

By no means would I say that it was a 'clean' hit and I agree with the penalty call. I was just saying no suspension.

And no problem, Aaron Rome scored his 2nd career NHL goal, too.

Sorry for the loss of Malhotra (well not if we play you). Its going to be interesting seeing the penalty killing without him. Vancouver is so stacked but it puts a lot of pressure on Kesler to have to handle all of that roll.

I'm hating the oversensitivity. It's great to remove dirty hits, but that's not from the blind side and he doesn't hit him with the elbow. He hit him with his arm, but is that worse than getting a shoulder? Of course we now have to hear from idiots that Bertuzzi is a dirty player.

Remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz9RE9RG ... 7274CB914B

I don't really think of Bertuzzi as a dirty player (well not now at least). But in this instance he was.

No, I don't remember that.

That's a dirty play, but he did it to get revenge for his best friend and teammate. I can't think of any other instances of Todd Bertuzzi being a dirty player. He really hasn't even been a physical player at all since the Moore incident.

Is this a dirty hit?

absolutely. charged full bore with his elbow up into eberle's head. if eberle was injured/stayed down for longer i'd guarantee a suspension would be coming his way.

on that note, i hope the canucks have been so demoralized losing back-to-back to a last-place team full of farm team pull-ups that they're swept by chicago.

i predict wings vs. bruins stanley cup. wings cup.

His elbow doesn't hit him in the head and it's tucked in. It's only a dirty hit if it's considered from the blindside which I'm not so sure about.

Any other opinions from non-Oiler fags?

Yep dirty hit. It is both blind and he finishes by following his elbow through. That is the type of hit they are trying to eliminate. That said if he got ejected in game I can't see how that merits more than a couple of games suspension if that.

Terrible hit. At least that little bitch had the guts to drop the mits right after he laid dirty smack down.

Hossa's goal tonight was pretty interesting... looks like the NHL really wants Chicago in the playoffs.

I still don't fully agree that Torres hit him with the elbow, but I'm just not sure about that blindside rule and what is considered blindside.

Also, that Hossa goal is complete bullshit.

I was curious on that one too. On the one hand it looks like his stick could have hit the puck before it went over the line which makes it a good goal. On the other there is no real evidence that it did and I'm not sure it ever fully crosses the line anyhow.

Apparently the ref said that Hossa touched the puck with his stick, and I actually thought from that one angle that it maybe did, but it was not conclusive either way, so the goal on the ice counts.

“They called it a goal on the ice, which is fine, that’s understandable. But the reason we have video replay is to get the right call. They’re probably going to make it into the playoffs anyway, but do we really have to make it that obvious that the league wants them in? It was a close play, but the puck never crossed the line.” - Ty Conklin

Any idea of websites that stream NHL games?
