May I assume that the curious lack of Antonioni on this list is due to you not having seen any of his films? La Notte is fantastic. I will definitely do an overhaul of my initial list, removing titles that were there due to my clinging to outdated ideas I used to have about them. |

You saying that because of Fassbinder comment I made to pauldrach? Because that was spefically due to him being German and having a bunch of films on there no one outside of Germany has even heard of (unless that person is David Kalat or something) and some lang and some herzog and some wenders. this is why the lack of Fassbinder was striking. even so, fuck limitations all to hell man. you gotta check what's all out there as much as you can. and that includes fuckin twin peaks this having been said, there are a shitload of directors i haven't explored myself. Cecil B. DeMille and Erich von Stroheim jump to mind... Fuck. |

I in fact believe I have seen literally all of them within the past year. Since I've been closely watching films for less than a year, I don't tend to trust my poorly recollected opinions on films I haven't seen within that time frame, so any films I remember enjoying a long time ago I'd be disinclined to include, and anyway I don't remember any in particular. Most films I watched and really enjoyed more than a year ago I've rewatched in the past year. Also, I edited my list to rectify its lack of The Seventh Seal. |

I was only commenting because I remember about a year ago you started to get really into film and started posting reviews more and more. Thats a pretty great year of film watching, though. |

Indeed. Here's to an even greater year (if only in terms of my sensitivity, since I'm sure grad school will shift the volume down dramatically*). *Although perhaps only in relation to my recent binging, since for much of this past year I was watching quite infrequently. |

Speaking of Antonioni today the only fun I had was watching the Criterion DVD with the commentary turned on. Really good shit. |

Oh shit, that might be a crucial detail. L'avventura of course. One of the best commentaries ever. |

It will definitely be among the next 10 films I watch. I've been trying to make time for it for a while, but that has proved difficult of late. |

Because I would be very interested in listening to this but have no intention really of buying the Criterion edition... Good commentary tracks are absolutely ftw. |
