I too have lacked on animation in my film viewing life. Not sure what would make mine, probably a Miyazaki or the most recent The Illusionist.

Watch Idiots and Angels (Bill Plympton), Les maîtres du temps (René Laloux) and The Adventures of Prince Achmed (Lotte Reininger)

And I too prefer Early Summer over Late Spring (for the same reasons as Dreww, especially the fact that it is funnier)

btw Dreww, has Lebowski always been that high on your lists? It has always been an all time favourite of mine. Even with the Lebowski love all over the place I still feel it's underrated somehow. How the fuck is it possible for a movie to be so goddamn funny. I can never get around that one.

How do you rate Noriko, Jake? Tokyo, Summer, Spring?

These are all kinda tied for me actually. If I had to give the edge to one, it would be Late Spring since the dynamics of the plot result in some crazy ambiguities in her character. One thing Ozu was the master at doing was to tie in impersonal causes (i.e. social factors) with psychological motivation so much so that it's hard to isolate one thing that says "yep that's why she chose to do that"

Damn, I can't believe 'The Big Lebowski' is our highest rated Coen Bros. film. Sure, the film is fun and well-made, but I don't get why DDDers put it over masterpieces like 'Fargo' or 'No Country for Old Men'.

Hmmm... apparently DDD isn't alone on this. TSPDT's most recent update has 'Lebowski' as the most acclaimed Coens film now.

Promise I'll get around to this. Just bought Microsoft Word, because for whatver reason it uninstalled on my computer (meaning I couldn't do shit), so hopefully do it soon enough. In the middle of orientation week at uni though, so we'll see.

I'll be editing to tweak the order, but those are the 100 movies. If I swap anything out, I'll make another post.

Love that list. All the movies in the top 15 that I've already seen were in my top 100, too, so I better make sure to watch the rest of them soon. "Who's Afraid" has been on my to-watch list for quite a while now.

I think Commanche Station and Ride Lonesome are both fantastic, but Decision at Sundown and Buchanan Rides Alone both disappointed me.

Haven't seen it. Looks like I better rectify that ASAP. The Far Country is the one Anthony Mann in my current top 100.

3. The Furies
4. Bend of the River
5. The Man from Laramie
6. Man of the West
7. The Naked Spur
8. The Far Country

Mann's noirs:
1. Side Street
2. T-Men
3. Raw Deal
4. Railroaded
5. Desperate
6. The Tall Target
7. The Great Flamarion

Definitely get thee to Man of the West tm when you get the chance. One of the best westerns I've ever seen in my life.
