So you mean that if a guitarist is good only for 4 years, and then he becomes sloppy, he still is a great live guitarist? Everyone's good in his pinnacle.

Of course, would you argue that Jimi Hendrix isn't a great live guitarist?

Hendrix never became sloppy.

That's not strictly true. Anyway, becoming sloppy is irrelevant. Page was a great live guitarist for 5 years which included 80% of the shows he played with Led Zeppelin. After that, he had drug and tendon problems. They shouldn't have to much bearing on his position on the list.

We all know what sloppy means. Sloppy guitar playing is a part of the live experience. I don't have a particular taste for it, but I really wouldn't count people too much down on that account.

I think sloppy playing is when the playing has a lack of fluidity. Notes are left out of the proper sequence or unnecessary notes are added in that seem to delude what the proper phrasing would be. Playing at a frantic speed often seems sloppy to me.

unclear articulation of the notes, typically hidden under wah or other gratuitous distortion approaches. basically everyone on the list except eric johnson has played sloppy to some degree at some stage

It could be argued that Hendrix was even sloppy in the studio at times.

Toward the end of his career, he got really bad.
Ted Nugent, among others, remembers seeing Jimi around 1970 and being so disappointed that he walked out.
