3:29 imo.

oh certainly more impressive, BUT, there are many impressive screams like that where that note would get drowned .... Everyone KNOWS that that opening wail is Welcome to the jungle, cause I dont think ive heard anything quite like it.....and it goes on FOREVER ..... its also my fave Axl vocal tied This I love and Paradise City ....

I can't think of many notes that "drown" that one. I mean, he's holding a full, clean F#5 for a solid ten seconds. Most of the guys we discuss here have never approached that. Axl hasn't even come close to replicating it.

I love the WTTJ wail though.

Considering the way Axl sings (mega throat, lotsa chest etc... ) that WTTJ scream seems so empty for him... Its like, a balloon floating up to the sky, instead of a brick shattering a 2-foot plexiglass window. It also sounds purely falsetto from him.

I think the WTTJ wail is falsetto.

HOLY FUCK !!!!

That power falsetto could have kicked major ass in some Chains songs...think he totaly wanted to distance himself from his previous styles....

He may have lost that falsetto range early. I strained my voice just once a few months ago and I've lost tons of my falsetto notes completely.

I'm shit with notes like that but it sounds like upper 6th at least to me.

Layne's a great singer. Unfortunately, while I love Alice in Chains, I can't listen to 'em because they remind me too much of someone I used to know. Everytime I hear like even a fraction of a second of any Chains song I'm left depressed for days.

I remember you being very depressed about someone some time back, if its the same person, im sorry....

Chains do make possibly the most harrowing, haunting and depressing music possible .... some of their songs are just beyond dark. For example - frogs or get born again, Layne just sounds like he's choking for life sometimes....

and Sir - :freak:

Layne's a very emotive singer... whether you like what they do musically or not, anyone who's been depressed or disillusioned with life can relate to what he sings. His conviction is practically spine-chilling at times. More so than almost any other singer.
