Jacques Brel - Le Moribond

I grew up with the popular English version of this song (Seasons in the Sun) but I like the original much better, this being the first time I've listened to it. Its got a lot more energy, and the lyrics are a bit more light hearted.

Califone - Vampiring Again
10/10

My favorite Califone song probably, and definitely one of my favorite songs of 2003. It's so simple and seemingly basic, but manages to sound really full and still wispilly thin at once. I really dig the outro where the harmonica and feedback come in, too. Then is builds to a mess of distortion and guitar. Really impressive.

"Hero": 9

Leb Wohl is this gorgeous song composed mostly of soothing piano while Klaus Dinger talks about sex on the beach, and is the perfect closer to the first half of the album. Then Hero kicks off side two with Dinger raping your nostrils with a drumstick. Amazing.

Washer- Slint. This song is so fucking perfect. 6:50-7:22 is my favourite part of any song ever. I really wish this song had a video done by someone like Polanski or something.

"The Boy With the Perpetual Nervousness": 8

I love when bands open their debut albums with a mission statement of sorts, and the title and lyrics of The Boy With the Perpetual Nervousness serve as a perfect mission statement for The Feelies. Also the music is great.

What a classic song, I could see this getting dropped in hundreds of dj sets (and I'm sure it has). Italio-disco doesn't get much better from what I've heard on this compact piece of dancy pop perfection.
