What bothers me isn't how they don't like fast playing, it's how they don't accept that it's not their cup of tea, but write it off as having no artistic merit.

I see a number of classic trolling techniques. One is the obvious one where someone brushes aside an obviously skilled performance as incompetent scale exercises, which isn't just a case of having a different opinion, it's simply wrong. It's like saying Michael Jordan can't dunk, or that Garry Kasparov is a shitty chess player. When guitar playing reaches a certain level, there are some things that are just factual.

Another is the oft-seen "X years of experience", where someone uses this to defend their opinions, even if this person has no evidence to back up said experience claims. What is the response when someone asks to hear clips of this person's music? "I'm not wasting my time posting my music online", or similar.

And of course: "You people are deaf. Enjoy being ignorant, I'm outta here!"

Great stuff, he was definitely ahead of his time.

Not the best sound quality but EJ kills it here, one of the best performances ive seen from him on youtube. I often enjoy his chordal improvisations as much his actual songs.

He's just playing random scales up and down with no phrasing.

Ah, true. Any guitarist who's not Ritchie Blackmore, is no Ritchie Blackmore.

I've never really enjoyed anything I've heard from Coryell, and that is no exception.
