how does soulseek work ? is it a software or something ?

Yeah, its a filesharing software. One of the last Gnutella-based programs that 1. still exists and 2. still has largely music on it as opposed to viruses. Haven't used it in a long time due to stuff on iTunes being cheap as hell nowadays (at least in the US).

Check what you download though, because alot of people on SLSK fail to grasp basic ID3 tagging.

new xx track sounds promising, sounds like they're filling in their neg space with intricate touches which will be an aural treat

ive always wondered being a music fan for so long why people do this. Does it really make a big difference in holding out? Does it make one tr00er?

I dunno man. I wouldn't say if you listen it's a lack of tr00ness, but I just like to listen to the entire album untainted by having become really familar with one of the tracks. I guess I don't always do this, but with someone like the xx who I know I'll be spending a lot of time with the new album - I like to go in with no biases. If it wasn't one of my favourites, or if it was a new artist, I'd have no issue listening to singles first.

New xx track is sweet. The sound of that snare that comes in half way through is just sex. That being said, the song sounds as if should be the simple album outro song as opposed to being released as the first single i thought

The new XX song was pretty good. Will definitely need a few relistens to make proper judgment on it.

Also, the new Bloc Party song "Octopus" surprises me in how much I like it. Their last album was a complete departure from the sound that made them great and only a few songs on that record ("One Month Off", namely) were any good. New song is a return for them. Really digging it.

I'm with Georgi here. IT's just a personal thing. I like to dive in and be immersed in it all at once instead of getting my feet wet first. Of course this all goes against my feelings about pools.

I really like the semi-new Passion Pit song, way better than the totally terrible "Take a Walk" that came out a little bit back

Did it leak? o.o

2012 has the potential to be the best year of music of the new decade (maybe even since 06-07). Swans, Neurosis, Modest Mouse, Death Grips, Matthew Dear, Animal Collective, Why?, Gojira, Converge, Aesop Rock...most of my favorite artists are releasing albums this year. Man if only Tom Waits and Radiohead and plans to release albums this year...

EDIT - I suppose there is a chance that Radiohead may release an album this year. A quick scour of google just says that Radiohead entered the studio in winter of 2012 but given their nature of not announcing albums until a week before or so maybe they'll knock one out before the end of the year.

EDIT - Holy shit. Forgot about Scott Walker releasing an album this fall. I'm gonna go broke from buying CDs again.
