The Thick of It is great, but still probably only the 4th or so best thing Iannucci ever did.

I'm Alan Partridge is still the best comedy show ever for me.

This show is hilarious. Guess I should look into more Iannucci.

Yeah, he's pretty much the best British comedy writer ever.

Personal ranking would be:

1. I'm Alan Partridge
2. The Armando Iannucci Shows
3. Knowing Me Knowing You... with Alan Partridge
4. The Day Today
5. The Thick of It
6. In the Loop (film)
7. VEEP
8. Time Trumpet

That's not including his panel style shows like Friday Night Armistace and Charm Offensive or the one off specials like 2004: The Stupid Version and Clinton His Strugle with Dirt which are also excellent

Of the ones I've seen:
1. The Thick Of It
2. The Day Today
3. VEEP
4. Knowing Me Knowing You... with Alan Partridge

They're all varying degrees of great, though, and it was very hard to pick between The Day Today and The Thick Of It but I went with the latter since as much of The Day Today's genius - and maybe more, I don't know - can be attributed to Chris Morris (on that note, I can't wait to watch Brass Eye) than to Iannucci.

Also, it seems to me that many people would give the title of best British comedy writer ever to Morris over Iannucci.

Yeah, a lot of people do for sure, but I prefer Iannucci over Morris myself. Morris is good, but I don't like him quite as much as a lot of people do. I think Brass Eye is a good show, but I don't think it's the best tv satire series ever like a lot of people do, I much prefer the Day Today these days.

Totally. This last episode didn't seem quite up to par, but maybe that was due to a GoT-induced hangover.

Overall, though, this show seems to be able to offer laughs per minute at a rate only surpassed by AD.

Yeah. I basically have nothing to say about Veep cause all I do is laugh for 30 minutes straight. I would watch a ten minute compilation of Selina Meyer's reaction faces.

edit: I do have to say though, I am absolutely thrilled with the introduction of Hugh Laurie as the new veep. (not the most plot-central show but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone)

Yeah the introduction walk down the hallway was pretty epic. I'm kind of bewildered by the sudden Amy outburst, though.

Also, just read that Iannucci will no longer be involved after this season, so I wonder how that's gonna go...

chris addison (ollie from the thick of it) has been directing most of the episodes of the season. i'd say its going pretty well looking at the material.
