Timitzii: Yeah, I get what you mean. I was trying to think some female examples, but now I only could come up with Skin from Skunk Anansie (badass) and Tori Amos (cool) Not the best examples...

And let's remember here that "badass" and "cool" are not some official terms. So if an Adam fan wants to call him badass, be my guest. Just compared to some other singers he's not _that_ badass. But then again "badass" isn't the same as "best".

So...yeah...I GET the difference but badass, like tastes in music, is subjective. In MOST cases, in the photos provided, the "badass" was naked from the waist up, or was wearing leather jacket (which Adam also has done a LOT!Thanks to Skingraf)
I still see his PH/WLL in Amsterdam as badass, as well as CTF from Zodiac show. Also, MOST of his TCB performances.
The phenomenal thing about Lambert...what puts him(imo) notches above the rest..is his ABILITY to do either...tone it down OR rachet it up vocally. THAT, imo, is badass AND cool! He cannot be boxed in..or contained within specific guidelines.
Who else can take a Zep song like WLL and wail the shit out of it in one performance then in the next, turn it into a "wet acoustic dream"?? Either way you wanna describe that, cool or badass, it is something new. No one else does it.
Therein, lies the fascination, imo.

OK so, I think what we have established here as that a performer can be cool AND badassed... :tongue2:

Me too. But I think the innocence of Superstar is a bit different. It's more... well, it's about a naive girl longing after a superstar with whom she had a one night affair. You get what I mean? Whereas the sincerity and vulnerability of Rainy Days and Mondays would suite Adam fine.

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Be safe.

This, Timitzii, is why I didn't find the pictures very good idea.

Doing an acoustic and electric version of the same song is NOT something new. And in this particular case I don't think Adam's doings have anything to do with being either badass or cool. That acoustic version - the first time he did it - was just an example of talent. (It's absolutely one of my favorite performances from him; shows some originality and musicality.) But we're not talking about talent right now.

(And when talking about doing totally different versions of a same song... Cornell's Billie Jean comes to mind. Totally badass (and original!) compared to MJ's cool.)

Edit: PJ Harvey can be whatever the hell she ever wishes to be.

David Cook's Billie Jean:

(Cornell's version....he did it first?)

It is just the shits that there are actually some really good singers that come out of Idol, but they have to drag around the crap image that AI weighs them down with once they are out on their own.

He is.

And yes cougar, Cook performed Cornell's version on AI. And did it very well, too.
Oh, and I love his version of I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight! Just can't find any HQ version of it.

Ok, back to Adam.

Okay...back to Adam. It could be the holiday, or maybe I am just in a bit of a morose and slightly nostalgic mood. But I would love to hear Adam sing This Masquerade.

Yes..Cook's a good singer but I was laughing at the WAY JRB posted it...as if the English teacher had instructed the class to use the word "legit" in a sentence... Just cute...that's all....struck my funny bone. **shrug**
