No, I was always against that. I think adding Yorke was Raul´s idea.

I think that he scores as high as any other session guitarist on the list. Even more if we take into consideration his 40+ years career.

you score as high in ignorance as any other poster on this site. even more so considering your 2+ year career here.

Yeah, I suck with regards to session guitarists. I have ask many times to explain to me why The Funk Brothers and others are so high.

I love Motown but most of the guitar I hear on Motown records are just simple backbeats.

Speaking of session guitarists, I'm surprised David Williams is only on the honourable mentions list. Dude was one of the most prolific session guitarists of the 80's and early 90's but I guess he kept such a low profile that it stopped him becoming as exposed as other session guys. I don't think he even released any solo material, but still he's one of my favourite guitarists and he was often what made a lot of MJ's songs so much fun to listen to for me. He had a very distinctive style and a unique sound. I'd know his playing a hundred miles away.

Is that him who does the riff at the end of "Billie Jean"?

Yeah. He played guitar on most of MJ's solo work.

Doesn't Lukather play most of the guitar on Thriller though?

Yeah, a lot of the guys from Toto worked on Thriller, but I don't think Lukather played guitar on Billie Jean. His most substantial contribution was the rhythm guitar track on Beat It.

Well I know he did the guitar work on Human Nature and the Beat It riff.

Yeah, I know they play on most motown records. But I want to know in which songs I can find great guitar playing. I like motown a lot but I don´t have pay many attention to the guitars. Maybe you could create a Funk Brothers thread?

And I still don't think Yorke should be teamed up with Greenwood and O'Brien. Not because Yorke's guitar work doesn't have a role in Radiohead's sound, but he mostly plays simple rhythm parts and usually on acoustic guitar. All the insanely creative electric guitar parts are the handiwork of Greenwood and O'Brien.

That's a good point. I reckon Yorke could be removed, if there are no objections.
