No objections here. I think Radiohead are a primary example of the old grouping system resulting in a lesser talent riding bandmate's coattails up the list.

I don't wish to be dismissive, but I think you have to engage with artists more than listening to a few songs. It's great that you're asking for recommendations, I just think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect a handful of Funk Brothers tracks to give you a proper impression of their importance to rock guitar. Even if your immersed yourself in Motown I'm not sure that would give you a full understanding of their importance - though it would doubtless improve it.

Something I've discovered since making another effort to revamp the Progressive Rock Artists list is that in order to stand a chance of making decent, educated decisions on artists placements one has to explore a vast array of music stretching over decades. Listening to a lot of an artist's music in isolation might cause you to respect them more, but in order to understand their real significance in music history you have to listen to a lot of what came before and what came after. With this in mind I've started voraciously consuming Progressive Rock albums far outside of my comfort zone as, though I'm probably the most knowledgeable poster on this site when it comes to Progressive Rock, there are still sizable gaps in that knowledge. I strongly suggest you do the same with rock guitar music if you want to make valuable contributions to this list.

Anyone who hasn't watched it already should check out Standing in the Shadows of Motown, excellent documentary about the Funk Brothers.

There used to be a full video of it on the internet, but not anymore it seems. Youtube is no help either.

I'll try and find it, Motown is one of the many styles of music I've heard way too little of. To be honest, I'm probably one of the people on DDD with the least varied taste in music, and the least listening experience to boot.

I am here because I want to learn new stuff. Or what, do you think I´m here because how nice people are?

I really like Motown (I hear a back-and-forth influence with the Beatles) and I have heard it my whole life thanks to my parents and uncles, however, I haven’t pay close attention to the guitars. I started searching for some Motown guitar driven songs and found My Girl.

Your very first post in this forum was you telling me and the other members of the forum how ignorant we are about The Beatles.

Problem is, you haven't changed. You still act like The Beatles is a band only you really understand and appreciate, especially the way you keep listing songs of theirs and posting Beatles videos, as if hearing the song the 501st time is gonna make us suddenly "realize" how much more important for music history that guitar lick at 0:12 is.

I keep bringing The Beatles up because I feel they are underestimated as guitarists.

And you feel your arguments are appreciated? You've been posting the exact same thing for several years in a row, and you still don't understand that you're getting nowhere? It's very strange behavior, and I still don't get why you just can't let it go. If you has some good points, it'd be a different thing, but they're not good points. You're also terrible at arguing your points, because you shift the focus every single time you're cornered in a discussion.

It's boring and frustrating for the rest of the forum, and it must be incredibly pointless for you.

Yeah, you are pretty though to convince. Maybe through my next project things can change. It is going to take years, literally, to make the new list I´m thinking of.

I´m going to call it “It was 50 years ago today”.

How come Styder gets banned from making lists but this guy doesn't? He's almost as bad only he's been a scourge on this place for years and is one of the reasons guys like Eric J stopped coming here altogether. We've lost some good posters because of this guy. Is it really worth it just because he posts a lot?

I am posting here because the editors asked for input to make some improvements. Why don´t you stop complaining and help instead?

I've contributed way more than you have over the years. Not that I've contributed a lot, mind you, but I've at least made some reasonable arguments. As a fan of this list for over 7 years now I think I'm entitled to complain when people like you act like there's a personal stake in it and try to make the list suit your own bias views of what should and should not be reflected in this list. Very few of your suggestions, if any, have been helpful from what I've seen.

If I´m so bias as you said, why don´t you destroy my arguments of Cobain vs Cantell? It is so easy to accuse some one of being bias. I have to recognize that I have done that before, but not anymore.

And BTW, I have made some recent contributions, for example people agree that Mustaine should be a lot higher and that Billie Joe Armstrong should be included.
