I honestly wish that Alive 2007 was the go to choice for all the Discovery advocates. I understand the latter has some kind of era-defining charm, but Alive 2007 is heads and shoulders their best work to date and summates their whole art. It's almost like all their releases before were made just to enculturate the masses to lead up to Alive's all-encompassing power.

My singles list is going to be dope though. 50 straight up timeless masterpieces that summarize the human condition in two to eight minutes. A lot of Cam'ron, that's for sure.

I find that no one summarises the human condition as well as Cam'ron does.

Now a nigga got baking to bake
Harlem Shake? Nah, I'm in Harlem shaking awake
Shaking to bake, shaking the Jakes
Kill you, shoot the funeral up and Harlem Shake at your wake

I highly agree with this. I was going to write another sentence describing why but then I read the last sentence of this post, and that's basically what I had in mind.

on that note, here's my top 4, which is the only part of my list I'm close to set on

1. D’angelo – Untitled (How Does it Feel)
2. Animal Collective – Fireworks
3. Daft Punk – One More Time
4. UGK feat Outkast – Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)

not including many A-side/B-side singles. I'm gathering that they just weren't very prominent in the 00s. A couple notable ones include Madvillain – "Curls/All Caps" and Flaming Lips – "Free Radicals/It Overtakes Me"

Digital Love is the one song on Discovery that I thought lived up to the hype.

What are the rules on compilations? Surely something like The Beatles - 1 can't be eligible. How do you compare that to an Animal Collective album?

Pretty sure compilations have to have all the material released in the '00s otherwise, like Jay Reatard's Singles 06-07.
