R&B has been used to describe so many different styles though. Even if you don't like what is called R&B these days, I don't think it has any real effect on anything that's gone before.

bob marley was supremely gifted as a songwriter. as annoying as his mass cultural appropriation may be from time to time, you cannot deny those roots reggae staples.
