I just saw the Song Tournament you guys did in 2010-2011. It would be awesome to do one this year.

we've tried several times since then. it doesn't work. the beauty of that tourney was that there were a lot of really popular songs along with some new finds for everyone, which was a nice balance. since then we keep trying to do them without the really popular songs and the attention just sort of fades after a week or two.

my biggest suggestion is to not put limitations on it. the "nominate anything" attitude made the first one work.

What if the only limitation is no songs that were used in the previous tournament? That ensures we don't get the same songs, but they also don't have to be "obscure" or anything.

Although at this point, it's been so long it probably doesn't matter if we have repeat songs.

We also need to find the right number match-ups per day. People lose interest when they need to listen to too many new songs.
