Glass Candy - Beautiful Object vs. Vank - Voyeur
Beautiful Object is competently made but ultimately submediocre. The Vank song is surely one of the worst I've ever heard. I can't believe someone would make it, listen to it, and then be okay with letting other people hear it. I know taste is subjective and all but some things really just boggle the mind.

Bjork - Big Time Sensuality (Acoustic) vs. The Cranberries – Dreams
Love both of these. My preferred version of Big Time Sensuality is the Fluke minimix. Voting for my rhapsodic nom.

I didn't like either of these.

56. Bjork - Big Time Sensuality (Acoustic) vs. The Cranberries – Dreams

I love Bjorks vocals growls. Keyboards get really grating and wish it was less plodding though. The Cranberries are really underrated. Dreams has a great 80's one hit wonder vibe to it in a similar vein as I Melt With You. The Cranberries are pretty underrated me feels. I feel like they get discarded with a lot of 90's sort of grungy/ sort of unternative boring rock, but they are much better than that and make it into this century relatively unscathed.

Yeah not the most memorable Glass Candy track, I would've gone with "Warm in the Winter", quite possibly their best song. I think what I like about that After Dark 2 comp is how much warmer it is than past releases from the current italo-disco scene.

Agreed fully. Bollywood's worst

Bjork - Big Time Sensuality (Acoustic) vs. The Cranberries – Dreams

Wow, tough matchup. Will go down as one of the most underrated bouts. I'm picking Bjork because it was just gorgeous in the unplugged format. Love "Dreams" and have always loved it, but I'm picking with fresh ears on this one.

"Dreams" is one of my favorites in the tournament, so this was easy.

My pick, if this shit doesn't move you, best check your pulse. And wash your ass while you're at it.

Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II

- Finchercore <
- Tudcore

David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
vs.
Omar- S- Set it Out

- Ahawkcore? I don't know who nom'd this - hell, it could've been me. Formerly my favourite song and ringtone.
- Wantacore - Whipped out the headphones for a closer listen and dayam this is quite a track, but won't vote against A2A

Opera metal is very :ugh:, point to Keith Jarrett for not being a photocopy of Nightwish found in a Kinko's recycling bin.

Within Temptation - Pearls of Light vs. Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II
At first Pearls of Light is... tolerable, almost (almost) having a kind of Twin Peaks-y charm to its corniness. But then... all I'll say is the combination of evil electric guitars, airy synthesizers, and ornamented singing should never be used for an emotional climax. Or any other reason really. Truly bad music. Meanwhile Keith Jarrett is a genius fully in command of his talents. And the best part is, it's not even close to being the best section of the concert!

David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out
Not all that into either of these. I'll grant that the Omar-S song is more tasteful than the Bowie, but it's also less interesting. As for Ashes to Ashes, it isn't even one of the better songs off the overrated Scary Monsters imo. What the fuck is with that background mumbling which doubles some of the lyrics? Or those boingy synthesizers which sound like something out of the SFX bank of a Sonic game? And don't the references to an older, marginally better song seem like desperate and misguided attempts at pop auteurism? The highly enunciative, heavily British singing style of post-Ziggy Bowie tends (for me) to foreground his consistently embarrassing lyrics and concepts so much that the music needs to be really good in order to distract from them, and here that doesn't happen, resulting in a goofy, tonally weird song that doesn't seem to me to emotionally reflect or comment on anything interesting about life, or even successfully provide a particularly attractive or interesting escape from it. Also I need to go to bed.

I'm not sure I disliked Pearls of Light as much as most others seem to. It's not something I would seek out and listen to repeatedly, but its not offensive to me if I hear it. Keith Jarrett, by contrast, is amazing.

David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out
Sorry, wanta. I didn't see the appeal in Set It Out. The vocals were obnoxious, like a really bad Michael Jackson impression, and the beat itself was kind of stale and monotonous. Not a very big Bowie fan in general and this isn't even one of his better songs, but it definitely wins.
