Wow, that guy made some of my least favorite movies ever. I know Godzilla has one of the worst reputations in the history of movies, but I suppose you have it above TDAT for box office reasons?

That was actually an accident. I meant to put Godzilla behind the Day After Tomorrow because while both terrible, the Day After Tomorrow is just it's own mess. It doesn't disgrace a great film like Godzilla. Fixed.

Feel free to give it go. I will look into all these lists eventually but possibly not before next year.

OK, off we go:

First of all I'd move IwtV up. It's his most popular film and its acclaim is fairly decent. Even though some of his output may be slightly more acclaimed I don't think any film below #2 has enough to overcome Iwtv's advantage in popularity.

Maybe there's something I'm not seeing, but I don't think "Michael Collins" should be top 5. "The Butcher Boy" is significantly more acclaimed (though less popular), which should secure it a place in the top 5.

For #'s 6-10 I'd say at least "Breakfast on Pluto" and possibly "The Borgias" should also be ahead of Collins and I'd round out the top ten with "The End of the Affair" and "The Good Thief" (though a case for "The Brave One" could probably be made as well).

I know McQueen has many more short films, but it's tough doing a list for him, because I can only base it on IMDB ratings, and none of his shorts have gotten any awards or nominations. It's probably a bit premature to do a list on him, but any thoughts?

Out of his shorts "Exodus" seems to be the most significant. It's the only one to appear in TSPDT's starting list (possibly due to a single vote in 2002's BFI poll) and it's his most popular at the IMDb. I'd add it at #4 and kick off Static.

10. The Last Airbender

"Signs" was slightly more acclaimed and popular than "Unbreakable" so these two should swap.

I don't see the significance of "Praying with Anger" at all. No significant acclaim, popularity or influence to speak of. Negative acclaim doesn't give a film a disadvantage towards unnoticed films so I don't see how PwA could possibly be any higher than #10.

Similarly "Wide Awake" does significantly worse than any of his other films (save PwA) in popularity. Its acclaim is poor though not as bad as some of the others. The advantage in acclaim might be enough to overcome "The Last Airbender", which was ridiculously unacclaimed, but none of the rest. It moves down to #8.

"Happiness" has the edge in popularity and lasting acclaim so I'll move that to #1. The rest is perfect.

Wtf? for the placement of "Louie Bluie". Very little popularity and no widespread acclaim means it can't be higher than #5. The rest is good.

Also, concerning the Pialat issue I've decided to stick with "À nos amours" as his #1 film until someone (i.e. probably PBR) has put forward a convincing argument to why any of his others should be higher. Other than that I'll go with the list I posted in the third post from the bottom on page 30.
