I think they'll beat or at least draw Portugal. They looked pretty good today. They showed how they wouldn't go down without a fight in the end and you have to give them credit for that. They defended well. Unfortunately they took a lucky header and they didn't have their starting striker to rack any goals up. The come back was class. Germany and the United States are my votes to get out of this group.

What comeback? They were never behind.

Ghana were absolutely awful in front of goal. I don't know why they insisted taking off balance shots facing away from goal when they had plenty of decent chances from better worked attacks. So frustrating.

They seemed scared to get into the box. The amount of times I saw Atsu running up the wing only for there to be no one waiting to receive the cross was frustrating. Also, are Ghana comprised of midgets? I don't recall them winning many aerial battles.

Agreed. Altidore doesn't do anything for me.

His ability to retain possession of the ball would have been helpful today. The other 9 players seemed to lose almost every challenge against Ghana. Ghana had a huge athleticism advantage. And when Jozy is wearing the USA uniform he is still good for a couple good strikes each game at his worst. Johansson is unproven and wondo is a poacher who thrives when the offense is working but is useless on days like today when the USA created few chances and could hardly retain possession.

he's an upgrade to jozy for sure. Bradley just needs to be the guy making the final
pass because bedoya isn't good enough to make the necessary passes.

What has johansson shown that Jozy hasn't?

Same. His 5th cap? And first US World Cup goal ever by a sub. He looked more like he wa sin a state of disbelief. "That was me?! I did that?! Holy shit!!"

So if USA ties Portugal they may advance on goal differential since Germany wraps up the group with a win over Ghana and just a tie with the USA. Portugal looked overrated and demoralized today, plus they suffered multiple injuries and pepe got carded. A tie is a very reasonable result to expect IMO. A win would seal the deal though.
