Should really be Brendan Rodgers.

In 2002 and 2006 player for player England really did have a WC winning/contending quality squad.
But they lacked the belief and the confidence.
Their media are 100% an enemy to their success and play a huge role in f@cking up the team.

And its funny because he simply did his job. If it didn't hit his head, it would have hit Cavani's.

 If Gerrard didn't fuck up the header and Cavani did, Suarez woulda been a mile offside. I'll give you that it was more so the central defenders fault on that one. But Gerrard's had a shocker at this world cup. Never should have played him as the main deep midfielder with only Henderson beside him.

You can't defend the header. He wanted to head it forward and it went back into the danger zone.

Gerrard also one of several players at fault for Uruguay's first. Missing a tackle with a rather weak attempt.

You can't defend his tournament, he had an absolutely dreadful world cup, constantly giving the ball away and no real indication of any leadership skills required to be the national team captain and the Costa Rica game should ideally be his last game for England.

He's done well for England over the years, but it's time to move on. Gerrard and Lampard need to be frozen out for the next generation alongside the likes of Cole and Ferdinand.

Would you have him not make the challenge for the header? I am a little surprised at how much he is being attacked.

If he doesn't head it, Suarez is off side. I am also surprised how much he's being attacked. Usually, his poor displays for England don't get criticised.

offside? really? is it henderson, cahill and jagielka who are all behind gerrard? it would seem that suarez is in line with these three. so the ball lands behind gerrard (he doesn't touch it) and suarez still gets it (almost as if it was passed to him). who is to say he wouldn't score then? he is faster than all of them. then gerrard looks like even more of a mug. do you have a link that has good footage of the moment?

should england have parked the bus after getting the equaliser?

this comment seems to ring true, "the synergy Hodgson was trying to import from Liverpool has not really been given the best chance to prosper."

wanta, if you're watching, Iran is "parking the bus"...notice all 11 players in their own half and once they have the ball they send every a ball to an attacker with fingers crossed. half assed play...also time wasting at every chance...clearly playing for 0-0.

Fucking Iran, failing to keep composure and letting Messi have room to be Messi. Hopefully there last 16 opponent will be more up to the task.

I insist he did that on purpose. No complaining or cussing throughout the match. One ball where he has space, BOOM!

Though I cursed at the goal (was rooting for Iran) , still, Masterclass.

Argentina played an awful game. Against a team that is basically only going to defend for the majority of the game, they play an even more defensive side than when they played Bosnia, and made little attempts of runs into the box from midfield position. 4 shots on target? Well done by Iran for the majority of the game. Kind of gutted that they didn't get the point because they deserved it; not to mention maybe even more on a couple of those headers that needed to be saved by Romero.

Also, a definite penalty. No question for old men. That was sloppy from Zab
