Ironically, the only song from those three bands on this list is Roundabout.

Do you think there is no room for just one song from each of those bands in a list of 500 songs?

Tell me what you would bump off and we'll see.

I imagine that has a lot to do with Prog no longer being a popular genre and thus prog musicians probably weren't surveyed in large quantities for the list.

Maybe you are right but that was supposed to be the 500 Greatest songs and not the most popular ones (this list would also have failed on that purpose);I think that not having thes bands representes on this kind of list is objectively wrong, it's like asserting that prog and some of its most symbolic bands didn't have an important role in the history of rock.

Just take the very last part of the list http://www.metrolyrics.com/rs, don't you see any of Genesis, ELP or Yes songs fitting on there?

So just tell me what songs in their 500 you think aren't as worthy as your trio from Yes, Genesis and ELP.

DJ, why are you criticizing specifically RS's list when this particular list also has the same "flaw"? There's only one song from that trio.

Are Weezer's "Buddy Holly" or Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" greater than anything ever done by Yes, Genesis or ELP? Those are just two examples but there are tons of similar ones and I'm wondering you doesn't realize it just to defend that list "fairness".

Was "Roundabout" added on the revision? Anyway if you guys like that list it's okay to me, to me it'is bad as mostly of their other lists.

What revision are you talking about? I'm talking about the list whose thread you're posting in. There's only one song from that trio.

Are those the only Weezer and Justin Timberlake songs on the list?

I don't think that ELP has one song that stands out as being their greatest song and needs to be on a list like this. They don't have ANY songs that are listed on acclaimedmusic at all. Nothing in the top 3,000 and nothing listed as bubbling under the top 3,000.

The most acclaimed Genesis song is "The Lam Lies Down At Broadway" at #2193 of all time.

For Yes they have "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" at #2569. "Roundabout" is bubbling under the top 3.000.

So for the acclaim portion of the criteria none of the songs by these three bands even comes close to being top 500 of all time. None of them has a song that does especially well in popularity or lasting popularoty, except for "Roundabout" which is already on our list.

None of the three bands in question have any songs on the RS Top 500 or on the R&R HOF 500, other than "Roundabout" which is here already.

By our criteria, Genesis and ELP don't come close to deserving a song on this list. ELP's music was popular for 2-3 years and then just died.

Genesis' "Invisible Torch" hit #1 on the Hot 100. They've got four more songs that hit the Top 5.

As for Yes, they definitely have several popular songs. "Roundabout" didn't even hit the Top 10, but "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and "Love Will Find a Way" hit #1 in 1983 and 1987, respectively.
