Lots of the French media are saying there were too many bad French films in competition and that Jacques Audiard's Palme d'Or was completely undeserved.

yeah compared to the most recent Palme D'or winners, Audiard seems kind of tame? I haven't seen 2008's The Class, but that's probably the last winner that reminded me of this win.

Hope it's still a solid year for movies overall.

Yeah I heard. Gus Van Sant brings it on himself tho, I can't think of a more inconsistent director than he atm.
