put knots in my stomach.

college football is lacking a great team this year. first time in a few years that i've had some downtime and been able to follow, but i'm not seeing any team that is really all that impressive. people can say what they want about the sec and them being traditionally overrated, but the big 10 takes the cake this year. two weeks in a row i've watched iowa (last week was worse) but i'm not seeing this resurrected hawkeye side..they are bad. northwestern had no business being ranked where they were and that's before the michigan loss...speaking of michigan, this is a turnaround that is legit and utah is better than a lot of people are willing to give them credit for. game of the week definitely goes to texas-oklahoma.

Yeah Texas Oklahoma was awesome. Looking at the landscape right now I think the best team this year would lose to any champion from the last 15 and probably handily. There is no great team. Think Northwestern only ended up ranked because they got that very fortunate scheduling (9AM pacific start time) against Stanford in the first game of the year to give them huge home advantage. That Stanford team is pretty good. Michigan is indeed legit looking and so is Utah. Wouldn't be shocked to see them win the B1G this year.

That game took years off my life. I'm still in disbelief.

ugh the one game i couldn't watch so far was the OU game

so texas is really confusing to me. how good or bad are they? 2-4 is pretty bad. but then 2 losses were to the #4 team, and they played flat out terrible on the road. the other was against another top 10 team (before notre dame lost their QB and some other injuries) and before texas switched coordinators and QBs. then they had 2 bad luck last-second losses to 2 more top 20 teams. they've beaten a top 15 team and bad team. they've played the hardest schedule in the nation, have one quality win, and 4 losses to good teams. they could finish the season anywhere from 3-9 to 7-5.

it just pisses me off when dumbass fans call for charlie's head, when he has the youngest team in the country, zero senior leadership, playing the hardest schedule in the country, and would maybe be 4-2 if not for a botched extra point and a dropped punt snap and some corrupt officiating. that's the difference between "texas could be on their way to a 9-3 season. charlie has turned it around." and "he's lost the team. he's done. he's in over his head. etc." ugh. i'm glad he has support from the top university officials so he'll at least get a 3rd year, and probably a 4th year.

I have multiple friends who played at Stanford and all of them said if they were to go 1-11 they'd prefer the win against Cal. Granted that's their rival but they apparently inspire much hate.

I wouldn't say it's really hate for me, it's just like, if we're bad anyway this year, I just wanna win these rivalry games. The only team I can truly say I hate is the Dodgers. Just thinking about them turns me into a different person. I really can't explain it at all. I think it's how I was raised. I went to Catholic school and was Confirmed as a teen without being given a different option, and even then I'd say religion was not forced upon me nearly as much as Dodgers hatred was.

that texas game was crazy. they nearly blew a 20 point lead against a team literally without a quarterback or passing game.

but if you don't check the box score all you'll see is that texas beat #12 baylor!

Btw if eric would like to truly complain about some rankings these are good candidates. I'm pretty glad Alabama didn't lose because it would have resulted in Iowa (who beat literally one team of any consequence) and played a joke of a schedule and did not look particularly dominant against it in the Playoffs despite not winning its conference and Stanford waiting just outside the door.
