20 years ago is roughly 30 after England last hosted the World Cup. The US figures don't far and away exceed World Cup turnouts since 1994. 3.36 million people attended in Germany in 2006, 3.18 million in South Africa in 2010 and 3.43 million in Brazil this year.

It's the home of football and they have the best stadiums too.

The first point is irrelevant and I reckon Germany could take issue with the second

It would be tropically hot for Scotland, if it ever got that high

I'm not even sure what you're point is about the weather, anpass? Football gets played in the vast majority of countries in their winter. It's traditionally a winter sport. I don't see how it will affect the quality of the games at all.

Playing football in the boiling heat is no fun. Hence why FIFA are trying to swap the 2022 World Cup to January in Qatar's winter or build underground cooled stadiums.

You seem to have some bizarre superiority complex going on that you live in a hot sunny country and because you can gain more money for FIFA. OK, so England having roughly 25C summer days isn't hot for you, good for you, i'm glad you were privileged enough to live in a country which has hotter summers, but i dont see how his affects the quality of football. and personally the last thing I'd want is to line the pockets of that organisation. And the US is better because it has a larger middle class, what the actual fuck does class have to do with anything?

em, okay? 25 still isn't hot. and we play the super bowl in the dead of winter, in deep snow, sometimes ... so i am not sure what your rant is about. the world cup NEEDS to be played in the football off season no? tis not me who makes the summer mandate.

Fine. 25C isn't hot. I've embarrassed myself, you've shown me up. Well done.

You were the one who brought the idea that the US was a better destination because England had crap weather in the summer. If you admit that you play the super bowl in the snow and i's ok, then surely you are going against your own point and admit that it really doesn't matter?

I was asking you what your point was. And why you then brought up class and making money for FIFA as well as the weather as reasons.

My rant was trying to get you to explain why all those things matter at all to where the WC should be hosted.

chill. i said Argentina. but i do make light of fifa's desire to make inroads into american hearts and minds, so they can get beautifully rich(er) operating a not-for-profit scheme. and really, 25 IS STILL NOT HOT. and i still hold out faltering hope that the olympics truly are an international athletic competition of a purely athletic nature.

those are all 64 match tournaments. no? US '94 was 52 matches.

edit, if you don't need air con, it is not hot. but by the same token, 13C is cold and please heat your buildings.

Agreed. At the end of the day, I think if Brazil win their games, they'll do well.
