it is. I liked Listen Up Philip but it was too derivative of Husbands & Wives for me. This is an amazing film. So glad to have a film of the year that feels uniquely catered to my tastes.

Just watched Listen Up Philip. Absolutely loved it.
Husbands and Wives is one of the few Allens I haven't seen, so I wouldn't be able to say anything about that. So for now I must say that I found Listen Up Philip to be a perfect film for me. God I love this kind of high-octane relationship drama, rapid-fire dialogue, in-the-face camera and that kind of thing. Reminds me of those amazing times I had watching films like Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Faces, About Elly, A Separation.

Can't wait to see his other films.

Twin Peaks : Fire Walk With Me

Never seen the series but this was one big fucking trip to nowhere!

Enemy (villenuive)

Now that I know what actually happened in the film, I appreciated the workmanship put into this somewhat mess of a movie. It definitely is a mind bender.

Under The Skin

What on earth?

You could fairly scramble all of these descriptions (in a weird way) and it wouldn't matter. Which is also true wehn people just do numerical ratings, but somehow with words it seems more egregorious.

man you're gonna love Husbands & Wives. For me it's a film that only works once, but that once is a really good once. My favorite filming of a thunderstorm ever.

Why wouldn't I ? Isn't it a prequel? I wasn't confused about the characters and what they were doing , why they acted the way they acted, I just think it was a mass trip halfway point of the film where the story of Laura gets bogged down in 'Drugs, sex & Rock'n'roll' story arc and takes a long time to get out!! I actually quite liked the first 20 minutes.

Yeah, I OD'd on Allen at some point so I decided to just watch a new one every odd year or so.
Glad to hear H&W is high priority.

yeah dude, absolutely top shelf Allen. I think these days I go

1. Annie Hall (I've seen it so many times it doesn't work anymore, but the imprint is permanent)
2. Blue Jasmine
3. Sleeper
4. Hannah and Her Sisters
5. Husbands & Wives

I am also completely Allen OD'ed though. walked out of Magic in the Moonlight and grudgingly finished it later. Haven't seen Irrational Man.

I've made up my mind that this is Kurosawa's best behind 7 Samurai.

EXODUS

This was really boring all the way through. At times it felt like a midday matinee type of a film with no actor even trying or maybe Ridley didn't give them much to work with but just couldn't get into it. This is the very epitome of 'phoning it' in for all involved. And I quite like how Ridley throws in the question of 'who's GOD?' A few times throughout the movie just to get the 'real' point across.

Not sure who told you to watch FWWM first, but that doesn't make sense to me at all. Maybe they assumed you'd already seen the show? I mean, it is Twin Peaks after all...
If I understand things correctly, FWWM was made because Lynch was unable to make the show the way he intended. Certain things that were of utmost importance to Lynch were kinda steered away from in the second season and the show continued in a direction that no longer had anything to do with Lynch's vision. FWWM was made to 'set things right', but you kinda need the baggage and an understanding of the characters for any of the FWWM film to make sense.

Even so, I don't get why you'd watch a prequel first if you haven't seen the original. That's like watching Prometheus before watching Alien or something :freak:
