Geez. How fucking bad does a movie have to be for it to make Stephen Hawking tedious?

What nominee this year will I never get to this Oscar season? I always miss one a year, usually for fear of boredom for these unappetizing prospects. 2014 it was Philomena, last year it was The Imitation Game. This year, my money's on Brooklyn, which nobody in their right mind would want to see.

Theory of Everything and Imitation Game were two I had no interest in. I didn't see Selma either, but I suspect I will at some point.

I'm going to try to catch up with $2 films as much as possible. Bridge of Spies or The Martian? Which should I see?

Smart girly women deserve to have legitimately well made films as well, so we should throw support behind Brooklyn.

In other news consider The Revenant 100% Drew approved.

I do want to see that, but I can't help but feel the reason is because the year is weak. Am I overthinking it?

I just disagree that it's a weak year. Off the top of my head 2015 has had one of the best action movies ever with Mad Max. One of the best sci fi movies ever with Ex Machina. Two of the best Pixar films. And now two of the best "westerns" in The Hateful Eight and The Revenant. And I haven't even had a chance to see numerous films that some say are the best of the year, like Carol.

And it's not as if my standards have lowered or anything because I disliked It Follows despite all the hype and despite Maika Monroe. So idk.

Bone Tomahawk too. haven't seen The Hateful Eight or The Revenant yet but Bone Tomahawk is the best western I've seen since 3:10 to Yuma and Open Range.

Agreed on Bone Tomahawk. It's going to be a cult classic.

Movie is weak. It deserved zero nominations.

Yeah, I was just thinking to myself yesterday what a great year for film 2015 was. I hadn't given a film a 10/10 since the Kill Bills and then I gave it to two this year: Ex Machina and The Hateful Eight. Plus really high 9/10s with Mad Max: Fury Road and Inside Out. And I haven't even seen The Revenant or The Good Dinosaur, yet. Nor Bridge of Spies which I suspect I'm going to enjoy immensely. It will be absurd, though, if The Martian ends up winning Best Picture.

Man, I love seeing a shout-out to Open Range. Such a quality Western. 3:10 to Yuma was a doozy, too. And the Coen brothers' True Grit.

Knock Knock 7/10

A campy, entertaining, funny and underrated black comedy. Contains some of Keanu Reeves very best and very worst acting, with much more of the former than the latter. He has a monologue towards the end that is legitimately great and probably the best acting he's ever done.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was excellent, too.

Yeah, that's another goodie. A little too grim for my taste, but an undeniably good film.
