Song #76 is "Love In Vain" from the "Let It Bleed" album in 1969. This is the second remake of a Robert Johnson song to come up on the countdown already. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards recalled:

For a time we thought the songs that were on that first album [King of the Delta Blues] were the only recordings (Robert Johnson had) made, and then suddenly around '67 or '68 up comes this second (bootleg) collection that included Love in Vain. Love in Vain was such a beautiful song. Mick and I both loved it, and at the time I was working and playing around with Gram Parsons, and I started searching around for a different way to present it, because if we were going to record it there was no point in trying to copy the Robert Johnson style or ways and styles. We took it a little bit more country, a little bit more formalized, and Mick felt comfortable with that.

In a 1995 interview with Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone magazine, Mick Jagger commented on the song's arrangement:

We changed the arrangement quite a lot from Robert Johnson's. We put in extra chords that aren't there on the Robert Johnson version. Made it more country. And that's another strange song, because it's very poignant. Robert Johnson was a wonderful lyric writer, and his songs are quite often about love, but they're desolate.

Song #74 is "Harlem Shuffle" from the "Dirty Work" album in 1986. It's a remake of the 1963 hit by Bob and Earl. The original was a hit in America, but flopped in the UK in 1963. In 1969 it came back and made the top 10 in the UK. The record was co-arranged by a young Barry White.

The Stones version (with Bobbby Womack on backing vocals) went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and #13 in the UK. Keith Richards had been looking for songs to possibly include on the album and had been working up songs with Ronnie Wood and Womack while waiting for Jagger to return to the studio in Paris after doing promo work on his solo album. To Richards' surprise, Jagger liked the feel and cut the vocals quickly. It became the first non-original song the Stones had released as an opening single off a new studio album since 1965.

Song #73 is "She's So Cold" from the "Emotional Rescue" album in 1980. It was also issued as the second single from the album, with "Send It to Me" as the B-side. Due to the song's lyric "she's so goddamned cold", the promotional copy sent to radio stations had a "cleaned up version" on one side, with the "God damn version" on the other. The single peaked at number 33 in the UK Singles Chart and number 26 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1980.

Song #71 is "Anybody Seen My Baby?" from the "Bridges To Babylon" album in 1997. It peaked at number 22 on the UK Singles Chart to become the band's 38th top-forty hit in their home country. The song was more successful abroad, topping the RPM Top Singles chart in Canada and the LP3 chart in Poland while reaching the top 20 in several European countries, including Hungary and Spain. In the United States the song reached number three on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the song also carries writing credits for k.d. lang and Ben Mink. The song is known for its chorus, which sounds strikingly similar to lang's 1992 hit song "Constant Craving". Jagger and Richards claimed to have never heard the song before, only having discovered the similarity prior to the Stones' release. As Richards reported in his autobiography Life, "My daughter Angela and a friend were at Redlands and I was playing the record and they start singing this totally different song over it. They were listening to k.d. lang's 'Constant Craving.' It was Angela and her friend that recognized it." The two gave Lang credit, along with her co-writer Mink. Lang said she was "completely honored and flattered" by receiving the songwriting credit.

"Anybody Seen My Baby?" features wide-ranging inspirations, including sampling of hip-hop artist Biz Markie, making it the only song by The Rolling Stones to include sampling. Bass and keyboards on the songare performed by Jamie Muhoberac. Waddy Wachtel plays acoustic guitar and Jagger, Richards, and Wachtel play electric guitars. The song has a distinctive R&B feel, driven by Muhoberac's bass.

Song #70 is "Torn And Frayed," another track from "Exile On Main Street" in 1972. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "Torn and Frayed" is called "a twangy, three-chord honky tonk, but not typically country ... the progression of the chords brings gospel music to mind", by Bill Janovitz in his review of the song.

The song is included on side two of Exile, the side known for its acoustic folk and country tunes. Janovitz continues, "The music comes as close to definitive country-rock or Stax-like country-soul as anything from the era, barring Gram Parsons – an immediate influence on the Stones." Gram Parsons was present for the recording sessions of Exile at Nellcôte, and "Torn and Frayed" is perhaps the most overtly Parsons-influenced cut the Stones ever recorded, with a country-soul flavour reminiscent of the Parsons-fronted Flying Burrito Brothers' 1969 debut album The Gilded Palace of Sin.

In fact, Al Perkins, a good friend and collaborator of Parsons', appears on the track and performs the song's pedal steel guitar. Jagger performs lead vocals and is accompanied by Richards on backing. Richards provides the song's base of acoustic guitar and electric Telecaster. Mick Taylor bass and Charlie Watts performs drums. Organ is performed by Jim Price and piano is played by Nicky Hopkins. Recording took place at Los Angeles' Sunset Sound Studios between the months of December 1971 and March 1972.

Janovitz says of the lyrics, "'Torn and Frayed' follows a vagabond-like guitar player whose 'coat is torn and frayed'":

Song #69 is "Stupid Girl" from the "Aftermath" album in 1966. It was also issued as a single on the flip side of "Paint It, Black." Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "Stupid Girl" is noted for its apparently degrading lyrics towards women, a claim also made about other Stones songs like "Under My Thumb." On the song's lyrics, Richards said in a 1971 interview with Rolling Stone,

"It was all a spin-off from our environment... hotels, and too many dumb chicks. Not all dumb, not by any means, but that's how one got. When you're canned up - half the time it's impossible to go out - it was to go through a whole sort of football match."

When asked about the song and its influences, Jagger said in a 1995 interview with the same magazine,

"Yeah, it's much nastier than 'Under My Thumb'... Obviously, I was having a bit of trouble. I wasn't in a good relationship. Or I was in too many bad relationships. I had so many girlfriends at that point. None of them seemed to care they weren't pleasing me very much. I was obviously in with the wrong group."

Song #68 is "We Love You" from the "Their Satanic Majesties Request" album in 1967. It strikes me as the closest the Stones ever came to making what sounds like a Beatles record. Of course the backing vocals by Lennon and McCartney may have something to do with that.

The song was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. It was first released as a single on 18 August 1967, with "Dandelion" as the B-side. The song peaked at number 8 in Britain and number 50 in America, where "Dandelion" was promoted as the A-side and peaked at number 14. The recording features a Mellotron part played by Brian Jones and backing vocals by John Lennon and Paul McCartney of the Beatles.

Written in the aftermath of the drugs arrests faced by Jagger and Keith Richards at the Redlands country home of the latter in Sussex that year, "We Love You" opens with the sounds of entry into jail, and a cell door clanging shut. The draconian nature of the sentences handed down to the two Stones relative to the charges prompted a stern editorial in The Times on 1 July 1967, titled "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?", in protest. The song's lyrics appear to be "a spoof" of the Lennon–McCartney song "All You Need Is Love", which the Beatles performed on the Our World satellite broadcast on 25 June. Alternatively, as Lennon insisted was the case, in his famous 1970 Rolling Stone interview, the lyrics can be seen as echoing the message of the Beatles song, on which Jagger and Richards were among the many chorus singers. On close examination, "We Love You" espouses a strong anti-establishment stance, proclaiming "we don't care if you hound we and lock the doors around we" and "you will never win we, your uniforms don't fit we."

Song #66 is "Memory Motel" from the "Black And Blue" album in 1976. There will be one other song from that album. The song is credited to singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards. It is one of the few which feature both members sharing lead vocals. The song itself is over seven minutes long, one of the longest songs by the Rolling Stones. Memory Motel in Montauk that was said to be the inspiration for the song.

Jagger began writing the song before beginning the Stones' Tour of the Americas '75 while staying with Richards at Andy Warhol's house in Montauk, New York and finished it while on tour. This is reflected in the song's lyrics where Jagger describes having to leave for Baton Rouge, where the Stones played two warm up shows at Louisiana State University, and where he describes subsequent experiences on the road.

The title comes from an actual motel in Montauk, on Long Island. The lyrics to the song have long drawn speculation as to who the "Hannah baby" in the lyrics refer to. Carly Simon is often a name considered, due to Jagger's descriptions of the woman throughout the song; 'Hannah' was in reference to Annie Leibovitz, who was the Rolling Stones 1975 Tour of the Americas photographer. She spent time with the band during their rehearsals at Andy Warhol's complex near Montauk. Jagger describes her thus:

Hannah honey was a peachy kind of girl; Her eyes were hazel, And her nose was slightly curved....

Her eyes were hazel, And her teeth were slightly curved; She took my guitar and she began to play, She sang a song to me, Stuck right in my brain... When I asked her where she headed for, "Back up to Boston, I’m singing in a bar."

The lyrics talk of the fading love brought on by a one-night stand at said motel. The song describes the female subject as a strong, independent woman, comparable in many ways to the female subject of "Ruby Tuesday", with Richards repeated refrain:

She got a mind of her own, And she use it well...

Richards did not play guitar on this piece; Black and Blue has long been known as the album used to find a replacement for Mick Taylor, who left right before work was to begin on it. Harvey Mandel plays electric guitar while Wayne Perkins performs acoustic. Jagger, Richards, and Billy Preston play acoustic piano, electric piano, and string synthesizer on the song, respectively. Preston also contributes backing vocals along with Ron Wood, who would eventually become the Stones' lead guitarist. The song was recorded in Munich, Germany at Musicland Studios in March and April 1975. Overdubs and re-recordings were performed later in the year.

"Memory Motel" has long been a fan favourite from the Stones' canon of work. It is often overlooked, possibly due to its length and downbeat feel, much like the album it comes from. It was one of the highlights of the Stones' 1998 live album No Security, where Dave Matthews took up lead vocals with Jagger and Richards. The song has been played live on every tour since the 1994 Voodoo Lounge Tour.

Song #65 is "Back Street Girl" from 1967. It was on the UK version of the "Between The Buttons" album and on "Flowers" in the USA. Mick Jagger in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine in 1968 was asked how he felt about the album Between the Buttons. He said this of "Between the Buttons": "I don't know, it just isn't any good. "Back Street Girl" is about the only [song] I like."

Song #64 is "Dandelion" which was a single that was not on any album until one of the greatest hits packages. It was written by Mick and Keith and first released as a B-side to "We Love You" in August 1967. With lyrical references to British counting or nursery rhymes, it reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart and number 14 on the US Billboard 100 singles chart. The first demo version of “Dandelion” was recorded in November 1966. Originally titled “Sometimes Happy, Sometimes Blue,” it had different lyrics and was sung and played by Keith Richards. On the released version, Mick Jagger sings the lead vocal. The Rolling Stones have never performed "Dandelion" live.

Song #63 is "Route 66" from 1964. It was included on the band's first album. The song is best known by Nat King Cole, whose version was a hit in 1946. It was written by Bobby Troup. The song uses a twelve-bar blues arrangement and the lyrics follow the path of U.S. Route 66 (US 66), which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.

Bobby Troup got the idea for the song on a cross-country drive from Pennsylvania to California. Troup wanted to try his hand as a Hollywood songwriter, so he and his wife, Cynthia, packed up their 1941 Buick and headed west. The trip began on US 40 and continued along US 66 to the California coast. Troup initially considered writing a tune about US 40, but Cynthia suggested the title "Get Your Kicks on Route 66". The song was composed on the ten-day journey, and completed by referencing maps when the couple arrived in Los Angeles.

The lyrics read as a mini-travelogue about the major stops along the route, listing several cities and towns through which Route 66 passes, viz. St Louis; Joplin, Missouri; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Amarillo, Texas; Gallup, New Mexico; Flagstaff, Arizona; Winona, Arizona; Kingman, Arizona; Barstow, California; and San Bernardino, California. Winona is the only town out of sequence: it was a very small settlement east of Flagstaff, and might indeed have been forgotten if not for the lyric "Don't forget Winona", written to rhyme with "Flagstaff, Arizona". Many artists who have covered the tune over the years have changed the initial lyrics, usually to "It goes to St. Louis, down through Missouri..." then continuing on with Oklahoma City and so on. Of the eight states through which the actual route passes, only Kansas and its cities—US 66 spends just eleven miles (18 km) inside the state’s southeast corner—are not mentioned by the song. Chuck Berry famously mispronounces Barstow to rhyme with "cow" instead of correctly pronouncing it to rhyme with "go".

Song #62 is "Let It Loose" from "Exile On Main Street" in 1972. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, “Let It Loose” is an emotional gospel blues ballad with a fervent religious feeling, the song being one of the band’s prominent forays into soul and gospel during the Exile era after Jagger had attended the services of the Reverend James Cleveland and remained deeply impressed by the singing of the gospel choir.

A portion of the lyrics were lifted from the song "Man of Constant Sorrow". In an interview with Uncut magazine in April 2010, Jagger was asked about this song’s lyrical content; he replied: “I think Keith wrote that, actually. That’s a very weird, difficult song. I had a whole other set of lyrics to it, but they got lost by the wayside. I don't think that song has any semblance of meaning. It’s one of those rambling songs. I didn’t really understand what it was about, after the event.” However, in the same article Richards says “I would never take Mick’s recollection of anything seriously.”

Recording began in December 1971 and continued through March 1972, with some recording taking place at Nellcôte using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. With Jagger on lead vocals, backing vocals are provided by Tami Lynn, Dr. John, Clydie King, Venetta Fields, Shirley Goodman and Joe Greene. Electric guitars were performed by Richards and Mick Taylor, and played through a Leslie speaker. Bass is performed by Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts on drums, Nicky Hopkins on piano, Bobby Keys on tenor saxophone, and Jim Price plays both trombone and trumpet.
