Antemasque - Antemasque

New album by old The Mars Volta leaders + Flea. Had high hopes for this and on a first listen it just sounds like watered down Mars Volta. Hope they're better live (going to see them on Saturday).

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings - Give the People What They Want

Green Language has gotta be one of the biggest disappointments of the year, alongside Leonard Cohen and the Roots. 'Attak' and 'Raptor' are really the only parts of the album worth a re-listen.

The songwriting gets stronger, but the improv moments (and KC's chemistry) becomes tighter and more fruitful.

"Providence" has turned into one of my favorite Crimson songs. Love the first half's atmospherics and the second half's face-melting focus and intensity.

That bass lead in the second half is all you need to hear if you have any question about John Wetton being one of the best bassists in rock during his prime. That bass is just so fucking heavy.
