Greatest Video Games By Year

I know Mother 3 is a cult favorite but on a second thought games like Bully or Diamond & Pearl are more well-rounded by criteria. What do you think, Man?

Top 9 looks good - I am wondering if Bully would be appropriate for the 10th slot. Made it on to the Metacritic, Glitchwave, and IMDB list, sold very well, did well with awards, and has good reviews:

Wii Sports might be moved out of top spot as Dubrow alluded to but #6 seems like too low.

I still don't understand how Gears Of War beats Wii Sport seeing that Wii Sports takes influence and popularity. And I don't think Gears Of War's win in acclaim is big enough considering Wii Sports is the best selling game of the decade and it wins that category by almost 40 million units.

Mother 3 is #7 on Glitchwave (all time) which is why I had it on my list but if you guys don't want it on the list that's fine.

Again...40 million units does not mean a lot if it was packaged with a new console that was already going to be successful, imo.

To be clear I meant it sold 40 million more units than any other game from the 2000s. Even if a lot of them were from being packaged in with the console that's still really impressive.

I think one thing we should decide if all the criteria is weighed equally. So is it like 1/3 acclaim, 1/3 popularity, 1/3 influence? If so potentially a really poorly received game could score highly if it was popular and had good influence. If everything is equal then I would say Wii Sports is deserving of the top slot. If not maybe it should be a little lower.

I agree with the weighting on the films by year forum which is
Acclaim: 35%
Influence: 35%
Popularity: 30%
As in criteria are weighted pretty much equally but in a really close matchup acclaim and influence are used as a tiebreaker.
