Then it wasn't very effective.

Anyway, I'm obsessed with Laughing Stock right now and especially After the Flood. How the HELL did they get so much vertical detail into one song? This is a world I could explore for days. I want to say it's one of the best songs of the nineties (of course it is) but it seems wrong to compare such a towering, staggering work to three-minute pop tunes. Just completely humbled by this, and there are five more where it came from. And it doesn't even end there. Incredible.

Yep, I can't imagine After the Flood ever leaving my top 3 songs of all time, or both SoE and LS leaving my top 5 albums.

Refining my music style affection daily. Today it is:
DSBM.
Discovered Xasthur on Friday. Brutal, cold, emotive. Want more.

Check out Gris's Il etait une foret, most of Shining's discography (especially III, IV and V), Austere and Lyrinx's split Only the Wind Remembers / Ending the Circle of Life, Coldworld's Melacholie², Darkspace's Dark Space III (I'm not a huge fan, but it's pretty damn depressive), Nae'blis's Sketches of Reality, Sun of the Sleepless's Tausend Kalte Winter (only an EP), Walknut's Graveforests and their Shadows, Forgotten Tomb's Songs to Leave and Springtime Depression, Nyktalgia's Nyktalgia, Silencer's Death - Pierce Me and Weakling's Dead as Dreams.

If you want ABM recommendations or links to the mentioned albums, let me know.

Thanks for the tips.
Next buys for me:
Xasthur, The Funeral of Being, Burzum, Hvis lyset tar oss.
The Gris you mentioned is also on my list, as well as Forgotten Tomb: Songs to Leave. Along with Nargaroth, Geliebte des Regens, and others.
We may need to talk some more. :metal:

Bob Dylan - Things have changed
Roy Harper - I hate the white man

the first being possibly my favorite track from Dylan now, judging from the amount i've heard over the past week , and the coolest he's ever sounded while expressing his lyrical mastery .....

the latter - is one of the most powerful songs i've heard .....
