I don't see how it's all that different from Arrival of a Train or something like that.
This is also a valid point. One might argue, though, that this earliest period still had an approach to filmmaking that was so fundamentally different to what we are used to nowadays that such films should ...

Charli XCX should probably have a list now
1. Brat
2. Pop 2
3. Crash
4. How I'm Feeling Now
5. Charli

Difficult list since popular and critical success don't necessarily align for her.

Acclaim:
1. Brat
2. Pop 2
3. How I'm Feeling Now
4. Charli
5. Crash

Popularity:
1. Brat
2. Crash
3. Sucker ...

Of course it's a film and I would definitely consider it eligible in principle. It's just incredibly hard to rank against most other films we're dealing with here. How do you measure its popularity? What constitutes its acclaim? Its influence may be the most tangible of its credentials.

Tim wrote: Fri Oct 09, 2026 6:36 am I'd amend it to "popularizing Caribbean (Trinidadian) music around the world" rather than Jamaican. Of course, your broader point still stands.

Errr, yes.

Les Paul for sure. Maybe John Mayall, Harry Belafonte and Celia Cruz. For the rest, I don't think so.

Oh, I second Harry Belafonte, too. He was instrumental for popularizing Jamaican music around the world and as such an important motor for the development and popularization of Jamaican rock ...

As I see it, these are the latest versions of newly proposed lists:

Robert Palmer/The Power Station
1. Riptide
2. The Power Station
3. Heavy Nova
4. Secrets
5. Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley

I could see getting rid of the Power Station entirely and adding Clues at #5

Well, I could see ...

ManPerson wrote: Tue Oct 06, 2026 5:43 pmI think Big Mama Thornton is too clearly rock to be listed.

On second thought, I might actually agree with this.

I'd certainly have Mahalia Jackson and Big Mama Thornton above some others currently listed.

As I see it, these are the latest versions of newly proposed lists:

Alison Moyet/Yazoo
1. Upstairs at Eric's
2. Alf
3. Raindancing
4. You and Me Both
5. The Minutes

Charli XCX
1. Brat
2. Pop 2
3. Crash
4. How I'm Feeling Now
5. Sucker

The Coral
1. The Coral
2. Magic and Medicine
3. The ...

I'll see whether I'll get to posting a quick overview of lists that haven been posted but not added yet and that I'm in agreement with. Then MP and Tim could quickly look over them and give a yes or no vote, in the latter case ideally with improvements. That way we could be done with the old ones ...

Pauldrach, if the 3 of you come to an agreement on new lists, post them here, and I'll send them to Lew. I'll ask that you try to be somewhat selective about which artists you add, because these lists are potentially a bottomless pit, and we all need to manage our time. ManPerson at least has some ...

Brian, the last time you looked at any of these lists was almost two years ago now. Would you be fine with ManPerson, Tim and me sending new lists to lew ourselves if we all agreed on them?

This is the problem with using IMDb charts unreviewed. 9.6/10 from 75 ratings. Shouldn't be anywhere near any list.

I'm pretty sure Stalker and Come and See are on the greatest movies list as well.

Yes. According to that, "Stalker" should be #3 and "Come and See" should be #7 (right below "The Mirror"). Four Tarkovsky in a row and in the top 10 look a little overkill but if that's what we decided why not ...

BTW, Janis Ian, whom you originally had on the main list (but outside the top 500), should probably be considered more of a folk than a rock artist and could be on this sidebar list.

ManPerson wrote: Sun Sep 13, 2026 9:10 amActually looking further up I could see him between Gorillaz and The Offspring.

Moved him there now.

Finished?!? What a list!

Reckon we can combine Wilco with Uncle Tupelo for sake of this list?

I think this is too much combining now. Some I think were decided to be too far apart to combine them (Lennox/Eurythmics, Cher/S&C), some seem unnecessary additions (mentioning Yoko Ono on Lennon's entry), others make it ...
