Re: Movie Directors' Top Films
Every poster I found has the title stylized in all-caps, which means absolutely nothing. For title capitalization, I generally use the spelling rules of the title's language.Dubrow555 wrote: Thu May 22, 2025 11:50 am Every poster I am looking at + wiki/IMDB has it as a capital "S" - might be because I live in America??? Re: Movie Directors' Top Films
The "S" of Sangre should be capitalized for Jodorowsky.
Why's that? It's a Spanish-language title. Sangre is a common noun and those are not capitalized in Spanish. See, for instance, the Spanish Wikipedia: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_sangre_(pel%C3%ADcula)
Might be my bias against ...

I'm curious how Jumanji and Captain America compare. Also, I could see Ozymandias at 1 or 2 for Johnson's list.
Re:Johnston: Yes, I wasn't sure about these two. Influence I'd give to Jumanji for its starting a franchise basically out of nothing, while Captain America did spawn two sequels but it ...

Speaking of Jackson...curious about the justification for having Bad Taste above the 3rd Hobbit movie. Is BT considered an influential movie in any way? Wasn't really particularly successful or acclaimed. IDK if I'd even call it Jackson's "break out" - doesn't feel top ten worthy to me.
Yeah ...

Of course, but its niche acclaim surely isn't enough to beat hobbit-schlock's mainstream popularity.Area Man wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 5:40 pm Dumb question, but is the World War I documentary They Shall Not Grow Old (2018) eligible for the Peter Jackson list?

Think this breakdown slightly favors Gentlemen Prefer Blondes even though Sergeant York is ranked higher on the 1940s list (#65) than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on the 1950s list (#87).
How so? With acclaim going to SY, popularity about a draw and influence going to GPB, this seems to be a toss-up ...
