Cool list!

It's not a film in the same sense as what we are ranking here . It's not a work of art or of entertainment, and that's why its popularity is unmeasurable or why it has literally zero acclaim: because it hasn't gone through the same channels every other film goes through. We can include it the same ...

C'mon, it's not a film in the same sense as what we are ranking here.

Certainly good news!

It would also be good to change some positions to make the list more consistent overall. It's good that Brian made the list more consistent with his decade lists, but keeping the 60s and 80s songs unchanged leads to stuff like G Thang jumping over The Message, Kashmir dropping ...

That would be a good addition, considering other second versions already on the list

These changes place Nuthin But a G Thang above The Message, and becoming the highest hip hop song on the list. Is that justified?

Always great to see original ideas for lists! The top five you listed looks good, and i agree with Man that those two labels should be listed somewhere.

Well, I don't have much else to add. Great job guys, I know I complain a lot and I still think lists this long end up a mess, but this is still probably the best list of its kind I've seen!

I don't know how I missed it when you listed him but how is Professor Longhair so low? Minimal popularity but top 100 in influence and one of the greatest pianists and overall performers ever. I see him pretty comparable with Big Jay McNeely or Jesse Belvin and they are 100 spots above him.

C'mon, why would you use popularity as a criterion on this list?

That would be better

But his philosophy is almost exclusively abouth ethics, morals, and the like, there's no epistemology or theory of reality, which are important when talking about the history of philosophy and knowledge, and which shape society and the world in less obvious but no less important ways. Some argue ...

I guess I'll take it.

Thoughts on the next 100 (I won't comment much on artists I've already argued for as I guess they are not getting any higher):

- Shakira and other Latin artists we've already discussed and as I said it's a can of worms, but here you have an artist who is far more popular and ...

Also, I forgot to mention that Olivia Rodrigo had a recording contract with a major label before she was even an adult because she had already been an actress and singer for DISNEY of all companies, starring in two series watched by millions. You know, for putting things in context (not that it ...

Zero influence is definitely an exaggeration. She's been credited with helping to revive the mainstream pop appeal of guitar rock and she's clearly influenced songs like "Abcdefu", for example.
I know she's been credited with things she hasn't done, but I'd expect us to know better than the ...

James Brown's Sex Machine live?

Criteria: This list showcases when an artist releases a newly recorded version of a song that they had previously released. These new versions of the songs are then selected and ranked based on their initial and lasting popularity, acclaim, influence, and general significance in musical history ...

Confucius at the top is brave I'll say. I agree with Buddha being debatable, imo Buddhism is closer to a religion than to a philososophy, but that's a problem with many Eastern philosophers.
