I don't remember the Musical Influence category from before, but I can understand Salt-N-Pepa being inducted here, being an early female hip hop artist. I don't really see Zevon as influential, he would seem to fit better under Musical Excellence.

Hey, I wrote this.

I'm putting together a write up about all the nominees for the website I'm part of, and here's a draft of the section I wrote about Phish. I think they have an interesting argument for induction, and not just because I am a fan.

This is a bit scattered and it's not everything I want to write, but ...

Mana getting a nomination before the more celebrated and revered "Rock en Español" act Soda Stereo is icky to me. Plus, I just can't stand their vocalist.


If it's any consolation, I've heard a lot of Latin American music fans and writers complain about Mana getting the nod before Soda Stereo ...

If I had a ballot I'd vote for:

Cyndi Lauper
Mariah Carey
Joy Division/New Order
Outkast
Phish
Soundgarden
The White Stripes

I don't know what happened with GNX. I added it at #3 where it should've been the whole time. Fixed the Taylor album title too.

Some other suggestions:

I'd probably have Hit Me Hard and Soft at #2 since it has similar acclaim to Cowboy Carter/Chromakopia/GNX while clearly being more popular.

I'd move up We Don't Trust You, since it more or less kickstarted the Kendrick Lamar/Drake beef.

On first glance all the additions seem to make sense, though I think Cheek to Cheek seems a bit high as, while it has some acclaim and popularity, it doesn't have particularly overwhelming credentials in either category.
