Re: Greatest Rock Frontmen (Revision Version)

I think I could see David Lee Roth a bit higher. Among the hard rock crowd--especially from the late '70s through the '80s--Roth was often seen as the archetypal ultimate frontman. Seeing him below Bono and Steven Tyler, for instance, feels a little off to me. He's beloved for combining athleticism ...

Re: Greatest Rock Guitar Solos (Revision Version)

Odd list (Terrible #1 choice imo) - it's weird to me how it is a combination of Studio recordings, recorded live solos, and televised solos (like Prince's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps). Good choices overall though.

The primary criterion is subjective to begin with, but if you ask me, I think ...

I never considered the Shazam angle, but that's pretty useful info.

It appears the 'O' in O Brother, Where Art Thou? is missing.

Great work with the list, Brian.

What about The Green Mile for Rockwell? Not sure where I'd place it, but that performance seemed rather memorable.

Re: Greatest TV Theme Songs

Yeah, AI definitely has its uses for this. We're probably still several years out from being able to just give it one prompt (with criteria included) and get back a fully finished, defensible list. But for now, it's still great for informed feedback like this.

Yup, absolutely. He's probably the most influential of them all in that regard.

As for placements go for my suggestions, I really have no idea, LOL. But I do find it odd that CT and Frampton--both of whom largely owe their legacies to their stagecraft, and both of whom have albums generally ...

Re: Greatest Live Rock Artists

The Roots over Kiss and Iggy Pop / The Stooges is pretty wild.

No Cheap Trick? No Frampton?

Also, I'll just do my thing and note that The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, and Orbital all have impressive credentials as live acts.

Re: Greatest Rock Artists Of All Time (Revision Version)

Aphex Twin is very likely the most influential electronic artist overall since the early '90s, and his acclaim is top-tier within the genre as well. He's exceptionally well-known within electronic music circles, though his broader popularity has been somewhat lukewarm or decent. It's probably even ...

Also, nothing personal against Sampson--he hasn't posted here in years--but those of us who've been on the forum for a long time probably remember that he often had a tendency to romanticize certain artists or records while presenting the conclusions as fully objective. After 20+ years here, that ...
