Re: 500 Greatest Music Videos (Revision Version)

According to Perplexity AI:

“Waiting for Tonight” stands out as one of Jennifer Lopez’s most iconic and influential music videos for several reasons beyond its visual appeal and award win.

- **Cultural Impact:** The video captured the anticipation and excitement of the Y2K era, reflecting a unique ...

Re: What Counts as Electronic Music?

Thanks so much, ol' friend!

I thought a breakdown would be helpful to clearly identify which artists belong on the eventual new main list and which would be better suited for an adjacent list. In my view, the adjacent list will be almost as important — it provides a more complete picture of how ...

Area Man wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 4:38 pm Thank you! I must give a shout-out to all those who helped me on it, as I was originally putting REO Speedwagon at #4 and Styx at #5, and I was convinced otherwise, which is a more proper order.
I'll claim credit for that one. ;)

Re: Top Classic-Era AOR/Melodic Rock Artists

On a note unrelated to making changes to our list, when the website Ultimate Classic Rock did their "Who are the 'Big 4' of AOR?" article almost a year ago, they choose the same four artists - Journey, Boston, Foreigner, and Styx - as our list, just in a slightly different order (if it was ...

Re: DDD's Favorite Games List

Ah, I forgot Star Fox 64 and Clayfighter 63⅓ on my list. The former's a great, groundbreaking game. The latter is a critical bomb, but dammit, I loved it.

I'm sure there are a few others I'm still forgetting.

I don't disagree with that. I do believe it's a more significant film than, say, (105) Grizzly Man and (103) Big Fish.

Re: DDD's Favorite Games List

I appreciate the Mega Man games, but I never got into them too much. I do recall that one of the original DDDers, ClashWho, was a very big fan of the franchise.

Re: DDD's Favorite Games List

Yeah, the '90s were absolutely incredible for gaming -- such a fun and transformative time. The transition from 2D to 3D was truly a paradigm shift that changed everything about how we experienced games. And the introduction of CD-quality audio and FMV sequences made everything feel so much more ...

Re: DDD's Favorite Games List

I'm so old school. I'll make a longer list later, but these come to mind at the moment:

1. Super Mario World
2. Super Mario 64
3. Mario Kart 64
4. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
5. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
6. GoldenEye 007
7. Super Mario Kart
8. Kirby's Avalanche
9. Super Mario Bros. 3
10 ...

Re: What Counts as Electronic Music?

[Saved for additional commentary.]

This isn't quite complete yet, but it's nearly there. I'll probably add a few more genres—like reggae/dub (peripheral), electroclash (semi-core), trap (semi-core), whatever—but won’t go overboard. Not trying to be too exhaustive.
