A few films that have used digital de-aging since 2019 (from wiki):
-Candyman
-Spiderman: No Way Home
-Avatar:The Way of Water
-The Flash
-Here
-Gladiator II
-Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
*The more I think about it: I feel like both the VFX work in "Here" + "Indiana Jones 5" feel very reminiscent to the de-aging in The Irishman. Both films take very recognizable older actors and use VFX work to make them look like they did in films they were in 20-30 years ago. Thoughts?

It's not quite convincing to me yet. Even a little distracting at times. I think it'll get there, though, probably within the next few years.

Plenty of films also used digital deaging before The Irishman though.

Sorry, I missed the context of the conversation, Dubrow. I'd give Irishman some influence in that regard.

True on both accounts...maybe as a compromise we move it down behind Joker?? Hollywood + Portrait have virtually no influence as far as I'm concerned.

I'd move it below Gone Girl. The two films are pretty much tied in acclaim, Gone Girl takes popularity fairly easily and The Irishman takes influence, but by a lot less.

The Tree of Life and Amour are still clearly like 15 spots too high according the criteria, but I guess we agreed on it before or whatever.

The Tree of Life vs Gone Girl
Initial Acclaim: The Tree of Life
Lasting Critical Acclaim: The Tree of Life fairly easily
Lasting Audience Acclaim: Gone Girl easily
Initial Popularity: Gone Girl fairly easily
Lasting Popularity: Gone Girl easily
Acclaim: The Tree of Life
Popularity: Gone Girl easily
Influence: n/a
Amour vs Gone Girl
Initial Acclaim: Amour
Lasting Critical Acclaim: Amour
Lasting Audience Acclaim: Gone Girl close
Initial Popularity: Gone Girl fairly easily
Lasting Popularity: Gone Girl easily

Influence: Amour close
Also, I don't see why Portrait of a Lady On Fire should be 25 spots apart from these two.

A movie vs crowd-pleasing franchise slop
Initial critical acclaim: the movie
Lasting critical acclaim: the movie
Audience acclaim: the slop
Initial popularity: the slop easily
Lasting popularity: the slop easily
Slop wins. Bonus points if it started a franchise of more slop.

I think “The Irishman” seems too low now. Good acclaim and influence.

If people think it's deaging effects were significant enough I'm fine with it moving up to #31 between Arrival and The King's Speech.

Well, popularity is 1/3rd of the criteria so when a highly popular movie has pretty strong acclaim, it should be ranked accordingly, even though I'd agree that most movies from Marvel and the like are in fact slop.
