I'd say Lou Reed takes acclaim and popularity over MC5 and Husker Du, as well as acclaim and influence over Sade and Phil Collins.

Toots and the Maytals seem a bit low considering their significant influence. I'd say they're more acclaimed and clearly more influential than most artists in the Bieber/Journey/Mellencamp/Heart/Bryan Adams range of the list. I think I'd have them back to back with Gary Numan, since I'd argue that influence is fairly close, popularity goes to Numan and acclaim goes to T&tM.

Cheap Trick bridged the gap between hard rock and power pop with a great popularity, in Japan especially, cited as influence on alt & modern power pop. Pavement may be the leaders of 1990s indie rock, not the most prolific but certainly highly acclaimed, even some success with Cut Your Hair. Megadeth, Dave Mustaine metal legend, one of thrash metal's Big 4, The Fall highly acclaimed brain child of Mark E. Smith, one of the post-punk pioneers.

I wasn't sure whether Crazy Horse should be added in brackets after Neil Young since they also made somewhat significant recordings as a standalone act. I also think it may be good to add at least Utopia to Rundgren's entry (adding Nazz and Runt as well may be too nitpicky even for me) but wanted to check back.

I'd lean towards considering Crazy Horse to be primarily a Young's backing band ergo added to his entry. Not opposed to Utopia addition as well.

Ronstadt a bit hard to characterize or rank due to her versatility, with her doing country, jazz, Latin, etc. but among the greatest vocalists to sing rock during the 1970s and one of the most prominient "rock chicks" image wise, overall highly succesful and beloved figure in American popular music. Vandross highly popular since the 1980s, among the greatest r&b vocalists as well as large influence on contemporary r&b as a whole. Rick James one of the biggest names in contemporary funk with Street Song and especially "Super Freak" large influence in hip-hop, a bit of household name/image culturally. T. Rex, Marc Bolan one of glam rock's greatest heroes, guitar or otherwise, huge influence in punk/alt lineage, in Britain especially in addition to high popularity in the UK. Scorpions still playing their farewell tour somewhere. Seriously though, large popularity worldwide, influential on glam metal with their later work, on dual lead guitars in metal with earlier work. Slayer huge influence & surprisingly high acclaim with their pioneering thrash metal album run. Stylistics one of premier philly soul brain childs of Thom Bell, noted for Russell Thompkins Jr.'s falsetto use and 5 top 10 singles during the 1970s. Wire one of the codifiers of post-punk in the late 1970s, pink flag widely viewed as a masterpiece.
