That looks slightly high for Backstreet Boys. I'd give Alice in Chains acclaim and influence over them, at least.

1. Jesse Belvin
2. Big Star
3. Jeff Beck
4. Belle and Sebastian
5. The Black Eyed Peas
6. The Black Keys
7. Beach House
8. Bauhaus
9. Pat Benatar
10. The Black Crowes

Placing Bauhaus was probably the most difficult part of ordering this since they have huge influence on gothic and alt rock while also having very limited popularity and fairly subpar acclaim, at least compared to most artists in this group.

Of course, some of these are influential on relatively large subgenres (Boogie Down and gangsta rap, Judas Priest and broad metal influence), and some have rather broad influence like Fugazi but these are also usually the ones ranked highest of these. Plus, in Bieber's case there's also youtube influence spreading across the genres and within pop music, he's pretty acclaimed.
I specifically chose those artists because they are also very acclaimed outside of their niches, just look at AM and it's not even close. I don't know how anyone can say Bieber is pretty acclaimed, his records always get mid reviews at best, his highest song on AM is outside of the top 1000, with no albums, and he's not getting many accolades from his peers. "Youtube influence" is honestly nothing, and comparing it with any of the artists I mentioned, who pioneered actual musical movements that have been influential all over the world for decades at this point, is ridiculous. I see their win as a landslide too, but since there are no numbers to show for it it gets swept under the rug. My point wasn't really about his particular placement though, it was more about which artists are getting under/overrated on this huge range of the list with so many artists with similar credentials.

I think it's fair to say those artists aren't as influential as Bieber is popular, though, considering Bieber is one of the most popular artists of the century.

And I don't see how his rise on YouTube doesn't at least have some significance. And his importance extends beyond that with Purpose being cited as a transformational pop album and his cultural impact obviously being huge.

Wonder if The Jeff Beck Group should be acknowledged under Jeff Beck entry. Ditto for Hendrix & The Jimi Hendrix Experience; Band of Gypsies.

I also added Jesse & Marvin to Jesse Belvin's entry. The first post should be up-to-date again.
