Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

Glad you agree, the more I think about it - lumping all three seasons of Twin Peaks really diminishes the achievement of "The Return." Yes, it is technically the "third season" - but it also functions as its' own standalone work from an auteur director that is/should be associated with the 2010's ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

I'm curious how Heaven Can Wait and The Love Parade break down. It seems like HCW definitively wins acclaim and popularity so do you consider TLP's influence win to be big enough?

TLP probably wins initial acclaim and popularity though not quite by as much as HCW wins lasting acclaim and ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

The Twin Peaks thing is a little silly....the original 1990-91 series, Fire Walk with Me, and The Return all have separate IMDB entries

Fire Walk with Me is clearly its own movie that exists in the same franchise/universe as Twin Peaks so I agree with making it separate.
- if we combine them ...

I'm curious how Strictly Ballroom and Elvis compare.
Influence: Strictly Ballroom but I don't think it's much
Initial and lasting popularity: Elvis clearly
Initial and lasting acclaim: Strictly Ballroom by little, especially considering Elvis probably wins audience acclaim

Fair enough. I ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

I'm curious how Strictly Ballroom and Elvis compare.

I'd say Twin Peaks should be Lynch's number one (and I'd agree with The Return being included as part of it).

Here's how I'd compare it with Mulholland Dr./Blue Velvet
Popularity: Considering Twin Peaks strong ratings in its first season, and ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

The Phantom Menace was also a pioneering use of mocap. I'd honestly say there's a solid argument for it to be in the 1990s top 250.
I'd say
Acclaim: THX
Influence: close
Popularity: Phantom Menace by a couple landslides

Re: Greatest Television Shows of All Time

It might be a bit high, but I wouldn't want to overemphasize the emmys too much. Keep in mind, Better Call Saul's final season was also released after the last treasure tv update, so its stature has also arguably grown a bit. I could see Succession > Chernobyl and Fleabag though.

I think Buffy should count for Whedon at least. He directed a seasons worth of episodes for the show and was the showrunner as well as creator.

Re: Greatest Rock Albums of All Time (Revision Version)

I also think Illmatic, Enter the Wu-Tang, The Low End Theory, Paid in Full, Master of Puppets and Disintegration could all move up a bit.

A bit nitpicky, but I think in terms of the big 80s guitar rock albums, I'd say Appetite for Destruction and Back in Black are a bit more popular and acclaimed ...
