Re: Best Performances by Drummer (Revision Version)

I would plop Pneuma at the top spot tbh. That performance has already become legendary and was making waves in the drumming community immediately after release.

Re: Greatest Television Shows of All Time

I'd maybe put Dragon Ball and Z together as one entry, but it's cool either way

Pretty much always considered to be two separate shows, even though they adapt the same source material without much of a break. You could say it resembles Twin Peaks or Pokémon in that the name change is primarily ...

Re: Greatest Anime Series

It was beaverteeth, and it is not a very good list imo. We did a lot of tweaking, but it's hard to balance the Western/U.S. perception with the way these shows are seen in their homeland, especially with how little access there was to anime in the West for a long time.

Re: Greatest Television Shows of All Time

Made a list for the 2010s. Obviously, most won't end up making the all time list.
1. Game of Thrones
2. Stranger Things
3. The Walking Dead
4. Better Call Saul
5. Rick & Morty
6. Sherlock
7. Black Mirror
8. The Mandalorian
9. Chernobyl
10. Fleabag
11. Succession
12. Bojack Horseman
13. The Boys

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

OK, but we have different discussions going on now. What we do with TP is one thing but what about TV series in general? Do we want to

a) allow them if the director in question co-created them, and can be seen as the main driving force behind this creation?
b) allow them if the director in ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

As I said, I don't see a problem with listing "Get Smart" on Brooks' list since the series is associated with him even though he eventually stopped directing any of it. Maybe renaming the list something like "Movie directors' top works" or even "Movie auteurs' top works" would currently be more apt ...

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

Also, I know I'm late on this, shouldn't Get Smart be on Mel Brooks' list?

He co-created it so it's definitely eligible. Since it's generally associated with Brooks, I also don't think we need to make an exception for it.

Where do you see it?

Co-creating isn't the same as directing though ...

He wrote it but didn't direct it, and, according to Wikipedia: "had little involvement with the series after the first season"

Re: Movie Directors' Top Films

Got to look at Hideaki Anno after all:

Hideaki Anno
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV series, 1995-1996)

3. Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time (2021)
4. Shin Godzilla (2016)
5. Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (TV series, 1990-1991)
6. Evangelion 2.0: You Can ...

Using RYM for this so these aren't all top of my head:

The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's / Magical Mystery Tour
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Black Country New Road - Live at Bush Hall
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth / At the Edge of Time
Charlie Mingus - Black Saint & the ...

Re: Last Professional Wrestling Match or Promo You Watched (and Rate It!)

We may have had the best episode of Dynamite ever last week. Four awesome matches*, one of which is MOTYC, good storyline and character progressions, a hot ending that felt like it had tons of starpower, and the one non-wrestling segment (MJF & the Hurt Syndicate) was excellently done. Has me ...
