I also think KPop Demon Hunters popularity and impact is too large to leave it out of the top 3, I'm not even convinced OBAA should be above it.

This is precisely the reason why popularity is being overrated in every list. Treating unmeasurable things as if they were measurable.ManPerson wrote: Mon Mar 16, 2026 6:34 pm Sinners grossed over 1.5x as much at the box office and has over 1.5x as many views on Letterboxd as OBAA. I don't think OBAA is 1.5x as acclaimed.
Re: Greatest Films by Year
We've definitely given movies credit for influence the year they came out though (Dune, EEAAO, Avatar 2).Tim wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 4:01 am Think as long as cultural impact is not a part of criteria and it's too early to talk influence, OBAA > KPop Demon Hunters. Sinners should prolly be #1 though.
I think it's ridiculous for a movie spawning four top ten hits, simultaneously, while being a boost in international popularity for Korea (even leading to a significant boost in tourism), to not get credit for that.
Re: Greatest Films by Year
1. Sinners
2. One Battle
3. KPop
Is a fair compromise for now (I'll admit Kpop was too low on my draft). Who knows what can change in a year or two.
Re: Greatest Films by Year
I would agree with this to some extent. This is why I would prefer Sirat + The Voice of Hind Rajab instead of Avatar 3 and F1.Fido wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 5:26 amThis is precisely the reason why popularity is being overrated in every list.
