Television noted for their dual lead guitars, pioneers of art punk as well as huge influence on post-punk, short career with limited commercial viability but Marquee Moon legendary album and title track. Erykah Badu kickstarting neo-soul with Baduism, noted for heavy Billie Holiday influence. X eclectic punk band, unusual for a decent amount of commercial success and large amount of country influence, in turn influence on cow punk. Kurtis Blow may have been the first star solo rapper in hip-hop, setting the standard for the genre in a way though his success was rather short-lived.
Foreigner popularity beasts in arena rock, Lou Gramm was among the leading (hah) lead vocalists of the genre. SOAD among the most acclaimed and popular alt metal, nu metal adjacent bands, noted for their Armenian Americans roots and vocal political stances, such as support for republic of Artsakh, opposition to Azerbaijani-lead ethnic cleansing. Frampton blockbuster live album Frampton Comes Alive, briefly popularizing wah-wah pedal and overall respected lead guitar player. Roots acclaimed for both their jazz-influenced hip-hop material and their skill as a traditional live rock band, they have been a house band at Fallon's for a while. Pointer Sisters one of the biggest girl groups during the 1970s and especially the 1980s, with 16 top 40 appearances and 7 top 10 hits.
Melissa Etheridge decent amount of success as a sort of late comer to heartland rock subgenre, noted for coming out as a lesbian in times of much lesser acceptance of gay people and for being a bit overtly influenced by Janis Joplin.
