I'd say Scarface and Geto Boys should be listed together.

I'd give Erykah Badu acclaim and popularity over BDP, acclaim and influence as well as acclaim and influence over INXS, Steve Miller Band, Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Mellencamp and ZZ Top.

I'd give Television acclaim and influence over most of those artists as well.

I'd say...
275. Weezer
276. The Shadows
277. Emerson, Lake & Palmer
278. Erykah Badu
279. Gary Numan/Tubeway Army
280. Television
281. Todd Rundgren
282. 50 Cent
283. Boston
284. Buffalo Springfield
285. Justin Bieber
286. Journey
287. John Mellencamp
288. ZZ Top
289. The Moonglows
290. Duane Eddy
291. Alice in Chains
292. Heart
293. Bryan Adams
294. Tina Turner
295. Patti LaBelle (incl. Labelle)
296. Steve Miller Band
297. The Dells
298. Tyler, the Creator
299. INXS
300. The Doobie Brothers
301. Moby
302. The Chemical Brothers
303. Jan & Dean
304. Boogie Down Productions
305. The B-52s
306. Dick Dale
307. No Doubt
308. Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine
309. Anita Baker
310. Mary Wells

Otherwise I have no objections.

My draft in comparison:

1. Fugazi
2. Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew
3. Ritchie Valens
4. Ice-T/Body Count
5. Black Flag
6. Dave Matthews Band
7. Bachman-Turner Overdrive
8. Jack Scott
9. Larry Williams
10. Big Mama Thornton

Fugazi post-hardcore pioneers, a huge influence on 1980s underground scene and DIY ethos, namedropped by numerous top punk & alt artists. Doug E. helped bring Slick Rick to prominience, a couple of immortal early hip-hop sides, the greatest beatboxer the genre has seen. Ritchie Valens may have been the first Latino rock star, gone too soon in notorious plane crash together with Buddy Holly & Big Bopper. Had a #2 hit with "Donna", but it's "La Bamba" which went on to be both rock & Latino standard. Ice-T gangsta rock pioneer noted for his forrays into guitar rock styles such as metal and hardcore, influencing rap rock & nu metal. While his music peak was brief, kept rather a high profile thanks to his forrays into movie acting. Black Flag helped bring punk & metal closer with their pioneering hardcore style, Henry Rollins a punk/rock icon.

Dave Matthews might have been the biggest jam band since the Dead, one of the lead artists of the genre's 90s heyday, one of the few jammers to hit it big on single charts, huge album sellers. Jack Scott pop/rockabilly with string of succesful singles during the late 50s - early 60s, one of the first Canadian-born artists to make it big in rock. BTO well-respected power trio, consistant popularity in classic rock format during the 1970s with continued radio play. Larry Williams one of major proponents of wild, piano lead rock in a Little Richard mold, a couple of classic singles, large influence on John Lennon & the Beatles. Big Mama Thornton would mostly be there for doing the original versions of "Hound Dog" and "Ball & Chain" but her stature seems to have grown in recent years.

How about:

1. Ritchie Valens
2. Ice-T/Body Count
3. Fugazi
4. Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew
5. Black Flag
6. Jack Scott
7. Larry Williams
8. Dave Matthews Band
9. Bachman-Turner Overdrive
10. Big Mama Thornton

Figure Black Flag's hardcore/punk influence is enough to overturn Jack Scott's popularity edge, while DMB and BTO both easily more popular than Thornton.

I also would suggest moving Frampton, Roots and Pointer Sisters over Kurtis Blow, with only thing he has going over them is The Breaks influence which yeah, was huge but Frampton at his peak and Pointer Sisters were very popular and Roots are very acclaimed.

In fine with the Kurtis Blow move, and I could see Ice-T moving up to behind Tracy Chapman considering his large cultural impact.

To re-cap what we got after adding Chris F.'s picks. Feels sorta sexist with so many female artists near the bottom.

To re-cap what we got after adding Chris F.'s picks. Feels sorta sexist with so many female artists near the bottom.
I get the feeling Chris F intentionally tried to add extra female artists so I don't feel too bad about this.
