Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Sort of an opposite of the other thread in this forum.

What are people's thoughts on this?

I think it's tragic and horrible, and I'm saddened by it, frankly. Both the event and the aftermath show how divided things have gotten in the US; it's been bad here for a while, but it seems to be getting worse. While I know many people felt hurt by Kirk's views, killing someone over their beliefs or political stance is simply inhumane and inexcusable. I also understand why some of those who felt attacked by him don't feel sympathy, but the fact that there are people actually celebrating his being murdered is truly disgusting to me.

Seems like he was pro political violence as pertained to his enemies being on a receiving end.

I think a cursory read, of even this, clearly biased and inaccurate article, shows us that this is not what he said, intimated, or wanted at all in any way.

What he was saying (which, lets be clear, is weird and unacceptable in it's own way) is that, on his account of events, the attacker would be answering questions we want the answers to - if bailed out. It was still weird political nonsense, but he was in no-way supporting the violence. His own words make that quite clear.

I also suggest that even if he had said what's being purported, that doesn't give anyone the right to assassinate (or even attack) him. Either take him to task legally, or let him be. If the whole issue is that political violence is wrong, I don't think there's any comparison between a mealy-mouthed podcast utterance and being shot in the neck in broad daylight in front of your children and dying. For saying words.
