Discovered a pretty major oversight on our part (not even a honorable mention as of now), think she can be in the same range as Dorothy Dandridge.

I know we discussed this group already on the old forum but feel it may worth another look.

30. Juliette Binoche
31. Julie Christie
32. Judi Dench
33. Kate Winslet
34. Greer Garson
35. Frances McDormand
36. Julianne Moore
I suggest something like this in a revision:

22. Cate Blanchett
23. Faye Dunaway
24. Deborah Kerr
25. Kate Winslet
26. Grace Kelly
27. Marilyn Monroe
28. Claudia Cardinale
29. Isabelle Huppert
30. Juliette Binoche
31. Frances McDormand
32. Julianne Moore
33. Norma Shearer
34. Julie Christie
35. Judi Dench
36. Greer Garson

So basically, K/Cates are too low at this point, to lesser extent I feel this way about Kerr/McDormand/Moore, Shearer is too high, as influential as she was, and Grace Kelly/Marilyn Monroe, as iconic as they were, had really short careers which hinders them in body of work and Marilyn is also lacking in acting awards with no Oscar nominations.

Im partial on moving down Monroe, honestly. She's the most culturally impactful/popular actress on this list (I don't even think this is particularly arguable, at least from a western centric perspective) and fairly influential as well. Also, I don't think her 0 oscar nominations necessarily paint a full picture of her acclaim. For one thing her acting ability has definitely been reevaluated over the years, and, even at the time, she won a Golden Globe, Cesar award and a David Di Donatello award. Obviously, she's still behind the others in this range in acclaim, but I don't think her acclaim should be undervalued. If anything I could see her higher.

Not sure about Shearer moving down either. More popular and influential than Huppert/Binoche/McDormand/Moore, weaker body of work, and while they're probably more acclaimed Shearer is very acclaimed in her own right, so I'd say that's the closest aspect of the matchup. When compared with Cardinale, Cardinale takes popularity and body of work, Shearer takes influence and acclaim (though that's close).

The rest of the changes make sense

So:

20. Marilyn Monroe
21. Mary Pickford
22. Olivia de Havilland
23. Cate Blanchett
24. Faye Dunaway
25. Deborah Kerr
26. Kate Winslet
27. Grace Kelly
28. Norma Shearer
29. Claudia Cardinale
30. Isabelle Huppert
31. Juliette Binoche
32. Frances McDormand
33. Julianne Moore
34. Julie Christie
35. Judi Dench
36. Greer Garson

Compared with Judy Garland, I'd give Monroe popularity, influence about even, acclaim and body of work Garland; with Liv Ullman, popularity and influence to Monroe, acclaim and body of work Ullman; with Mary Pickford, I'd give Monroe narrow wins in popularity and acclaim, body of work about even, influence Pickford.

Now I wonder if we demoted Julie Christie too much compared with the list on a main site, which has her just below Norma Shearer. She has a pretty potent combo of acclaim and popularity when I think about it, arguably can be still atop of Cardinale/Huppert/Binoche group. And what do we do about Dench? May not be a popularity heavyweight but even if we limit it to her movie career, still widely acclaimed.

I am working on a revision atm, with Man's help as usual. I assume Stone ends up top 100-150 when we are done.

Figured if we promoted Kidman over Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster can be as well, I'd say even more acclaimed than Kidman, though a bit behind in terms of popularity and body of work, pretty influential as well (her Silence of the Lambs & Taxi Driver roles, her status as high-profile openly gay actress, her general independent outlook, etc.).

If we want to give Jodie Foster credit for her character in Taxi Driver inspiring John Hinckley she has a lot of cultural impact as well.

Hah, wasn't sure about it either way. If we do credit her with a lot of cultural impact, what's the highest she can go?

Easily #1 slot:

Convincing someone to be a presidential assassin > the most acclaimed actress who ever lived.
